What makes me sick is. I duck and Goose hunted in Mich for 28 years and had saved all of my Mich and Federal Duck stamps from 1969-1997. About 2008 I gave them all away to an acquaintance along with some old paper 12 gauge shells and other memorabilia. Oh well no use crying over spilled milk.

Years ago, when I first got my Mystic Heirloom albums, I removed all of the duck stamp pages. I didn’t have any duck stamps. Now, I have a few, and I have no idea where those darn pages are. I’m kicking myself. Does anyone know of some downloadable pages anywhere?

I have a general question on Duck Stamps and I'm hoping one of you can answer.
I have a bunch and many of them are still on the licenses. Should I be removing the stamps from the license or should they be kept as is? I keep wanting to remove them, but haven't because I didn't know if I should.
A little guidance would be greatly appreciated.

susiecc , You probably already know the answer -- it is up to you to determine how you want to collect things. I prefer my duck stamps off paper so that they present a neat (and uniform) appearance when mounted in my album. I do, however, have two ducks on licenses. I've opted to keep them that way as they provide good examples of how the Federal stamps were used. Scott RW33 on a New York license: Scott RW44 and Nebraska A1 on a Nebraska license:I haven't seen any catalog or other source that indicates stamps on licenses are valued at a premium to used stamps off-paper. Should any of our members be aware of information to the contrary, I'd appreciate being informed. One caution pertaining to separating the stamps from the licenses is that the signature ink might bleed/smear and present an unsightly appearance.

I agree with Steve if your going to mount the stamps in an album . You will have to remove them from the license. However I sure would be afraid of the ink bleeding onto the stamp. You might try removing a stamp on a duplicate if you have a duplicate. If not I think I would leave the stamps on the license and perhaps print your own page. Maybe two or three complete license per page or group your state and Federal together on one page.

I really hadn't thought about the signature ink and what would happen to it when I soaked. I think I would like to remove them, but the ink thing does present a problem since the signatures are in all different types and colors. I'm thinking maybe a long soak in relatively cold water. I'll test. I do have duplicates.
a very good helpful tip!
thank you!!!

If you want to remove the stamps from the license, just wet the back of the license. Wet it just enough to soak through to the back of the stamp to get the gum wet. This may take a few tries, but it will keep the ink from bleeding. You must be patient, but it has worked for me on these, with no ink bleed.

daveg28 you really didn't hurt yourself too much because Mystic only put two or three duck stamp pages in their new albums. I have all of mine and could count them for you. My Albumm set was purchased by my wife in 1998 for my 50th Birthday. You had to purchase them in a set of "Back of the Book" pages. I started out with three albums like everyone else and now I am up to seven albums. Too many pages in an album will cause the album cover to split.

I could have swore that my Mystic album set came with duck stamp pages. When I get a new supplement, there's always a new page for that year's duck stamp (I just worked on 2017 and 2018's supplements, and ordered 2019 today). I probably bought it in 2004 or 2005, I'm guessing, and at the time it was complete. Yeah, I'd like to have those BOB pages, too, although I don't have much to mount on them. I also started with 3 binders, and I'll probably expand to a seventh binder soon. Fortunately, I've been finding matching empty binders at stamp shows for about $5. Much better than Mystic's $12.

I found, in my attempt to remove the duck stamps from the permits, that wetting from the back didn't work too well on most of them. The paper on most that I have is heavier than regular paper. It's much thicker. I don't know what it would be called. It almost looks like some sort of heavy craft paper. I tried soaking the back by using a wet cloth, but it was taking so long, I finally gave up. I ended up just doing a soak in cold water. So far, I've done 24 with no significant loss to the signatures on the front. I'll post a picture when I'm finished.

Thanks for the Info. I forgot to mention but you probably already knew. Always...Anytime you are experimenting with stamps.Only do one at a time so if anything is ruined you only ruin one stamp.

The last time, I had to pour water on the back, until it soaked through, I guess I should have said that before.

I recently added 2 used copies of Scott RW10 (1943) to my collection. Two stamps remain before I have completed my collection, which ends with the 1981 issuance. Here is the stamp I've mounted in the album.

For some time now, the empty space in my album for Scott RW33 has bothered me; however, I have resisted the temptation to remove the stamp from the license on which it had been affixed for more than 50 years. Exactly 6 years to the day since I acquired the stamp on license, I scratched the itch and purchased this copy to fill that void.

For those interested, the Souvenir Card Collectors Society recently posted a new gallery of Duck Stamp souvenir cards. These include the "Certificates of Appreciation" that collectors can get at no cost with purchase of a stamp. There are a number of show cards we still need examples of -- if you happen to have any of the ones we're missing let me know! souvenircards.org/gallery/BD/BD.html

Today a friend gave me some duck stamps he’d accumulated and had tucked away. They’re all from the 1990s, with one from 2002. There’s also state (Ohio) wetland stamps to go with them, and some of those are more recent. I didn’t know about the state stamps. Are these as collectible as the federal duck stamps? The feds are nice additions to my collection as I only had three of them anyway. I’ll post some pics of them soon.

State Duck stamps are certainly collectible & a large group out there that avidly collects them. Prob not as desirable as the federal ones, but a much larger group of stamps (multiple states) and not as pricey...

Hi daveg28 Nice stamps. Funny the 15.00 dollar stamp is the only one with no date ON the stamp..But in the border. Not earth shattering, but funny...eh.

Yes, interesting. And now I wish I would have kept all of the duck stamp pages from when I purchased my Mystic album. For years, I had exactly one duck stamp. Now I have more, and I regret being shortsighted 20 years ago, and with all but the last three yearly supplements. The pages that came with these new stamps are nice…does anyone recognize where they are from?…but my OCD tendencies wish for matching pages.
