Australia's inventions on Stamps..........
I nominate the next issue for design, the Aussie that revolutionised the Beehive.
I reckon a great invention suitable for our Froggie..............

I took my kids to a bee keeping demonstration but became the hit of the show when the bee keeper saw me "petting" his bees.He asked how I learned to do that and i explained that the bees collected pollen on their hair and I realized they enjoyed having the "fur" ruffled.Even my young children were stroking the bees just as I taught them.Sadly I am allergic to some bees so must be careful.

Xantippe Western Australia 6609 The only postcode in the entire continent of Australia beginning with an X Xanthippe = Golden Horse (Xanthos Hippo) Xantippe = name of Socrates Wife. wiki Xanthippe means "yellow horse", Hers is one of many Greek personal names with a horse theme Philippos "friend of horses", Hippocrates "horse tamer" Greek name often suggested aristocratic heritage In our little town, we have a similar rock wall, feeding water to a tank, built by Italian Prisoners of War (WW2) After the war, some prisoners returned to settle here.

Right up my table.Playing in finals for 9 ball Thursday we finished second and play third place team. Not so good on 8 ball finished sixth no shot at playoffs. We moved into this league later than most and all the power players were taken. We play uphill every night totally mismatched. It's all good and we have a fun time.My wife is a terror on the table, most do not want to play her.

Query: A stamp has not carried out any postal service, but is defaced. Is it considered used postally by Australia Post?
I have just received a letter in the post, domestic rate 70c Stamps adhered $1.70 Stamps defaced with Pictogram "Philatelic sales Centre 19th April 1982" (ie First Day Cover)
It flew through Australia Post unhindered.
I have always taken FDC as used, but hypothetically, they are merely "Commercially overprinted" ? Have "Postage Due" auxilliary markings been discontinued with Australia Post?

That brought a tear to my eyes. I live opposite a Fire Station in a tiny town, and the boys get called out all hours for road accidents and fires, they are the best. The siren sounds, and within a minute cars are screeching to a halt and men / women clambering on the trucks. I could not believe the amount of homes lost in your Ocean Road. Terrifying.

Rod,On behalf of my fellow firefighters I thank you for the kudos. Volunteers are the core of all but the cities here. The homeland security act after 9/11 has funded many replacements of older equipment. If you consider the lack of municipal water supply and reliance on what we can find volunteers actually have a much harder job than our city departments. All our supply must be trucked to the location, this usually involves drafting (sucking) water from a pond, lake,or stream. This was always my assignment along with establishing a tanker train. Not an easy task when faced with a foot off ice between you and the prize.

When these stamps were issued in 1982 the initialism ABC stood for Australian Broadcasting Commission. From July 1, 1983 this was changed by an Act of Parliament to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, retaining the initialism and logo.
