What I collect: Cinderellas and some Ephemera from Great Britain, France and Israel plus a few beautiful bits from elsewhere !! Topical interests include Flags & Judaica, the latter with an emphasis on the Jewish National Fund.

I couldn't decide whether to put this one under Fantasy, Spoof or Plain Silly. But given it's 40c outside, and we are 6 months away from the festive season, I decided on the latter ! A 'Plain Silly' Cinderella Stamp.

I'll bet these weird-looking items are missing from most Coronation Omnibus Collections !! Maybe we should thank our lucky stars that they are.

“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn’t. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn’t be. And what it wouldn’t be, it would. You see?” Alice
Just bought online an original copy of “Alice Through the Pillar Box,a Philatelic fantasy by Gerald King”- 1978 - features Alice in Wonderland stamps and stationery invented by Mr. King.
Here are some of the Wonderland acquisitions I made some time ago, more to come !!
The stamps have values in Wonderland currency and commemorate:
The Coronation of Queen Alice - 10 Winks
The Olympic Games - 7 Winks
Hare Mail - 1 Golden Slumber & 10 Winks

Designed, addressed and signed by Gerald King.
Addressed "to Queen Alice ,an Invitation to her Coronation, Feasting & Fun From the Red and White Queens", carries a pre-printed brown Wonderland Alice 3 Wink stamp, overprinted with LOOKING GLASS LAND, and a G.P.O. cancellation and 1871 date.
The postcard is for use in Wonderland and the Territory of Looking Glass Land.
The reverse of the postcard carries a pair of Wonderland Freedom from Hunger postage stamps, the stamps tied with an '8' in barred oval postmark.

Sans Dinero -- U.S. Military OccupationI'm not sure when or where these two Sans Dinero sheets were produced. I acquired them at auction from the same seller on ebay after winning a souvenir sheet for my hometown collection. If anyone has any knowledge of the origin of these satirical semi-postal stamps (the late Jim Czyl, perhaps), please pass it along.

From the same collection as those in the previous post, the set below shows us what might have been had Hitler's successor, Admiral Karl Donitz , had the time to order a stamp series in his honour !! The design resembles the 1944 Hitler head issue in Green. Sadly for the Admiral, it was Nuremberg and incarceration although he did get to live his final years in freedom. This fantasy issue though came long after his death.

". . . She stretched herself up on tiptoe, and peeped over the edge of the mushroom, and her eyes immediately met those of a large Caterpillar, that was sitting on the top with its arms folded, quietly smoking a long hookah, and taking not the smallest notice of her or of anything else.
The Caterpillar and Alice looked at each other for some time in silence: at last the Caterpillar took the hookah out of its mouth, and addressed her in a languid, sleepy voice.
`Who are YOU?' said the Caterpillar.
This was not an encouraging opening for a conversation. Alice replied, rather shyly, `I--I hardly know, sir, just at present-- at least I know who I WAS when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.'
`What do you mean by that?' said the Caterpillar sternly. `Explain yourself!'
`I can't explain MYSELF, I'm afraid, sir' said Alice, `because I'm not myself, you see.'
`I don't see,' said the Caterpillar.
`I'm afraid I can't put it more clearly,' Alice replied very politely, `for I can't understand it myself to begin with; and being so many different sizes in a day is very confusing.'
`It isn't,' said the Caterpillar.
`Well, perhaps you haven't found it so yet,' said Alice; `but when you have to turn into a chrysalis--you will some day, you know--and then after that into a butterfly, I should think you'll feel it a little queer, won't you?'
`Not a bit,' said the Caterpillar.
`Well, perhaps your feelings may be different,' said Alice; `all I know is, it would feel very queer to ME.'
`You!' said the Caterpillar contemptuously. `Who are YOU?'
Which brought them back again to the beginning of the conversation. Alice felt a little irritated at the Caterpillar's making such VERY short remarks, and she drew herself up and said, very gravely, `I think, you ought to tell me who YOU are, first.'
`Why?' said the Caterpillar.
. . . "

Well much as I detest these, I guess one doesn’t need to buy the Kempland, Occussi Ambeno, Takangarika Island, Sandy Island, Thanatos fantasy labels.
Bruce Henderson’s issues have taken over where Clive Feigenbaums spurious locals of the 1970s left off. I can’t make up my mind whether they are a joke, just fun or a con.
