Up next Cambodia. Prior to 1951 Cambodia, like many other S.E. Asian countries, used the stamps of Indo China . Below is the first page plus a few other selected ones.

Love those Cambodian multi-coloured engraved stamps! Laos & Vietnam also have many of these great issues, I look forward to future postings from other countries that use these stamps printed in France.

Today a very familiar country to most, Canada Shown are the first two pages and a couple others selected because of their exquisite engravings. Not the rare 12 and 7 1/2 cent Victoria's with red dots above them are catalog cut-outs.

Geezer, thanks for the kudos. I only need 18 stamps to complete thru 1990 (major numbers) but I won't ever feel real satisfied until I get most, if not all, of the 1897 Jubilee issue. A couple months ago the Frogman served me up several of the scarce early coils and the very illusive F3 registration stamp. Those additions were the first I've made in many a year and really helped to get me closer to the goal. The showing for today is the Canal Zone Located in Panama and a protectorate of the United States it's stamps reflect both of these influences. Shown are the first page and a few other selected ones.

CGH triangles are among my favorites. I've often thought I would enjoy doing a specialty collection of those, but looking at a couple of recently auctioned collections convinced me that the cost would be prohibitive. On your pages, I especially like the multiples and the woodblock.

That 1910 Chile set reinforces the point I made earlier today in the Belgium thread about the allure of classic bi-color issues -- these are striking!

Today I like to show a page from Argentina that I just completed. After years of searching I finally snagged a copy of the 20 peso bi-color San Martin,o ne of the key stamps from Argentina. Turns out I still need it as this one is a proof and a space filler for now. I also just upgraded most of the other stamps in the set from used to mint. Could anyone tell me how the proof values against the actual stamp? I've been picking up some proofs from Argentina but have no idea of their value.

Proofs fluctuate and hard to pin, so best to float around Ebay.
Your 10 Peso example has not carried mail, but is a receipt of Postage.
The full Perfin is INUTILIZADO
Mailers of Newspapers would pay postage fees in cash, and the perfinned stamps used as a receipt.
(same with your 5 peso example)

Up next is probably my weakest major country, ChinaI have actually not added much to this collection since I was a kid. Around 1990 the market for Chinese stamps went crazy and it has not been a buyers market since. I'm pretty much in ignore mood for this country and rather doubt I will ever add much more to it, more likely to sell it. As sparse as it is I could still get a couple thousand dollars from it. Shown are the first page and a couple others that show typical types.

Hey Jeff, surely you jest?!? Only 18 on the first page with a cat of around $15,000 and sadly they most often sell for over cat price. For obvious reasons it has been the hottest country for 30 years and no sign of backing down. I doubt I have more than a couple hundred dollars invested in the China collection but have little doubt I could realize a ten fold profit in selling. I hate selling any parts of my collection but it would probably be wise to do in this case. I received the large batch of stamps, you sent, yesterday. I did a quick culling and did not really find anything that I have spaces for. However there were several modern African, SA and European items of recent years that I should be able to add whenever I extend my pages out that would include them. There were also several Cinderellas that I have already put in there respective places. Thanks much for passing them on to me! Now I would like to pass them on to someone else on the board, so the first person to step up an request them, gets em. For today Colombia is on the menu. My first page has one lonely stamp on it, but at least it is a #1. The pages shown below are the 2nd, 3rd and 4th pages.

For today a few pages from Costa RicaCompared to most of my other country collections this one is still rather weak. Hopefully I can improve on it a bit if I win the two lots I'm bidding on today. Shown are the first 3 pages plus another later page.

I was indeed kidding around with you. However, admittedly I had no earthly idea that they was so expensive! Holy smokes that's unbelievably prohibitively exorbitant prices!! I think I would default to "ignore mode" myself! Beautiful stuff A-ra! I look forward every day to seeing your pages. What a treat! Your an asset to the community!
Glad they made it to you safely. Someone will enjoy that little mixture I'm sure!

Curacao is up for today. Like most colony stamps of Britain, France, Italy, Netherlands Spain etc. they are fairly weak. As my Europe, North and South America are very close to where I could hope to get them, I need to start concentrating on the colonies. Probably take me the rest of my life (God willing) to maybe get close to where I would like to have them. Just showing the first page, the rest of the pages can be viewed via the link above. Steve, I think you'll find this next colony has quite a few that also have that wow factor. If stamps were mostly ugly I wonder if any but the "Purest Philatelist" would collect them? The next country up, Czechoslavakia, is near the top of my list for countries lacking the wow factor. For today CyrenaicaCyrenaica was an Italian colony for around 25 years before being incorporated into Libya Antonius-Ra.com

Today CzechoslavakiaProbably my least favorite major country, I've never found anything to get me excited about it's stamps. Showing the first and second page. These are two of least expensive first pages, of any county to complete. None of the stamps catalog for more than a dollar. However they are not all easy to get. I spent years looking for a #53 120H (the last stamp). Finally picked one up a couple years ago.
