Thanks for nice post(s) Rod, I now know what's missing in your basic Canada and can assist with the holes. Gotta give me a bit of time though as winter's onset is leaving me a scramble to finish some jobs.No worry 'mate. Thanks for your generous offer Froggie. I need no Canadian stamps right now, my Canadian drawer is bulging. Here's what I do. I sort say 300 grams of Canadian stamps, mount them and the duplicates go in envelopes in Steiner Page sequence so I can quit them on ebay. The "open top" mounts facilitate easy swapping for better stamps as they arrive. Until the drawer is exhausted , I'll not know just what stamps are missing. Then I'll attend to the 'tagged" I am not game to attend to the Queen Victoria....(too hard basket right now) Cheers

rod (and frog), I'm sure I have a couple that you might need but currently not many of the high values. Here's what I have in my Used Edwards duplicates right now. Looks the same for anything earlier. Now, Admirals and afterwards are very full right up to the dollar. Then after that the dollar values from the George V and VI sets are scarce again in the dups. If there is an interest, I'll post some scans in the trading section threads.

If I post some later pages with gaps, and there is a reasonable cost to warrant shipping then I'll buy some off you. Otherwise, not worth it for just a couple of stamps. Appreciate the offer though.

jimjung not sure you would have what I'm missing, and if you did I couldn't afford them anyway.#3#13#31,#32 and #63 that's my want list.I've narrowed it down by two last year maybe this year I'll get at least one more.I did pick up a dangerous number 3 forgery that was printed on laid paper this year.

I don't have Number 32 and I don't have any of these stamps for sale currently but I do run into them a few times a year aside from the Scott 32. I do have two copies of the 12d Proof, one with a Major Re-entry listed as the 12th stamp on the re-entries.com 12d page and the two different shades of the Perforated 6d (Brown Violet and Grey Violet).

1912 Steiner page 12 The "Admiral" issues. The 50c here is a "black" I think. I need a black-brown to compare, when one arrives in the future.

First chance I get I'll spend some time pulling others for you from my overflowing mess here.Don't fret about SP&M issues. I'm in a serious state of chaos I won a couple large collections and lost room on my table. I'm sure it's under there somewhere.

Query : Canadian tagged stamps, often show up as yellowed lines, does this detract in any way, price or collectability ? It's the Winnipeg Tagging (phosphorescent, not fluorescent) that sometimes can be seen as kind of a light straw colouring. I've always thought that strong colouring was sort of like toning, a clue that there has been some "weathering" of the stamp. The taggant is sometimes applied fairly thickly and it can sort of obscure the stamp's design beneath it, making the colour of the ink appear a bit faded. I note that your 1965 5 cent Christmas stamp has shifted tagging. The standard rule for shifted tagging on Canadian stamps is that it must be fully clear of the perf teeth to be considered an error. If there is no hint of taggant on the perf teeth on the left side of the stamp, then congrats, you have a winner! Check out this Canadian tagged error listing on Robin Harris' website, you'll find that it has a value of CAN $60. Tagging errors are lots of fun, I put my UV light through quite the workout when I look through my stamps. Ryan

Rod, you are gathering some pretty impressive Canadian pages there. As we say up here in the Great White North, 'Good day, eh?'
Well done sir.

Rod, you are gathering some pretty impressive Canadian pages there. As we say up here in the Great White North, 'Good day, eh?' Well done sir. Gee. Thanks James. I think the early stuff is pretty ratty, but I must say, I like the early Pmks of Canada, not fond of the modern square block type. The Album is really beginning to be nice to flip through, (one cannot see the flaws, the scanner rudely reveals) and the yawning gaps will be easy to find when I go shopping. I wasn't a big fan of Canada, but I am weakening. A collection is only as good as the Catalogue, and the Unitrade is fabulous to go fly-specking. Good Fun. Froggie's donations has bumped the completed pages along marvelously.

Are any Canada collectors able to expand on William Steiner's reference to common naming sets, please? "Medallion Issue" "Hidden Dates Issue" I don't see this referenced anywhere else, I can guess why, but anyone care to substantiate? Thanks.

Admirals, scrolls, arch (or arch leaf), medallion, dated-die (or hidden-date) are philatelist shorthand for the various series of KGV stamps. Useful in the same way as references to large queen and small queen issues. I'm no specialist in Canada so others can flesh this out, but that's how I've heard the terms used. Steiner incorporates most of them in his pages.
Admirals and medallions seem pretty much universal in usage. Scrolls and arches maybe slightly less so? Still very common. I'm not sure collectors have settled on a catchy name for the 1935 set. But I don't hang around with many Canada collectors, so take that with a grain of salt.

Thanks Collin. "Medallions" the one that had me scratching the head. (From Coinage) To wit. "I had cheap used examples of these stamps in my callow youth, but barely noticed them. The bearded profiles lined up across my album page like jobless men at a soup kitchen, a brief queue between more elegant portraits of the graying, medal-bedecked king that preceded and followed them. You get a sense of the contrast in the three stamps shown below. Equipped by my fellow collectors with half a century of insight, I now know the Medallions merit a more appreciative look. The first to show me so was John Burnett, whose Collecting Canada column in Linn’s I edited 20 years ago. You can read Burnett’s take on these "modern classics" on the website of the British North American Philatelic Society. As "sculptor to the king," Edgar Mackennal won the important commission for the obverse design (based on his bas-relief portrait of George V) for coinage used for the reign of the new monarch beginning in 1911, from which the new portraits used on British postage stamps were subsequently adapted. It is based on the latter that the 1932 Canadian stamps are known as the Medallions. " www.linns.com/en/news/stamp-news/2015/05/canada_s-king-george-v-medallions-weathered-the-depression.htmlI still think this is fairly abstruse, any new collector picking up Steiner, is going to be searching Scott for a while to find "Medallions" The scrolls, Arch , Maple Leaf, Diamond Jubilee and Admirals are all immediately recognisable.
