Like Tomiseksj, I do not have too many books in my Library. However, it is filled with an abundance [my wife would say over-abundance] of Magazines and Journals which I NEVER discard. They will always be a source of great information and reading. I am prone on occasion to picking up the odd 'oldie', a Philatelic "blast from the past" one might say. And so it was in Stafford a few weeks ago, but don't tell the wife, I promised no more magazines !! I only found one such piece but it was a classic, not only for the magazine itself but also because of the insert.....a rare addition in times of old. This one was more special because of the Festive Season........... A December 1926 Edition of Stanley Gibbons Monthly Journal [MJ] [Now Gibbons Stamp Monthly [GSM]]. In very good condition for the age and with some wonderful articles which I will share another time. But one such article was about the 1926 International Philatelic Exhibition and was headed by the Exhibition Cinderellas [Labels then as the term 'Cinderella' came much later]. Fascinating. But there's more....... Front Cover. For the festive season a scarce and unusual insert was placed. I wonder how many of these survived and in almost perfect condition too ! Today such an insert might be considered a waste of time.......... A treasure in my eyes, and at an affordable price too ! Londonbus1

I have several shelves of catalogs as well... Scott, Sanabria, Minkus, Michel, Yvert, etc. However, the real gems in my library are the magazines, journals and stamp newspapers. Here is where I find the most interesting stories about the events that stamps commemorate, and the history of their usage.
I have finally completed acquiring a complete set of the Sanabria Air Post News journals. A total of 57 periodicals with the first issue in February 1935 and the the last published in mid-1967. These journals were meant to be supplementary updates to pricing and new listings during the time between issues of Sanabria's Airpost Catalog. But, the journals also contained many interesting stories about the early pioneer days of airmail aviation, events involving the aero-philately community and so much more. I have not seen a comprehensive index to the Sanabria Air Post News, so I have begun to compile an index on my own (I hope I am not re-inventing the wheel). I will be glad to make the article index available as soon as it is completed.
Cheers, Here is the index, so far. If you want information, just drop me an email. Terry. I will update the index from time-to-time.

I also came back with some 1925 Stanley Gibbons magazines, a few of which will form the prize for an upcoming giveaway. BE WARNED !!!!!!!!! Scans to come.

I always enjoyed Global Stamp News, a magazine that I had several years saved from the late 60's early 70's. It had articles that appealed to my collecting style then and still does. Unfortunately I let them go sometime around 1980, and have missed them ever since. I will start asking around at stamp shows and see if I can't scratch some up. Anybody else remember these?

Some of my journals were recently transferred to the shed in a large suitcase because the wife wanted to decorate the bedroom !! They were not in her plans so out they went. It was a sad day but at least I can still get my hands on them. I just can't throw them away, believe me I have tried but it doesn't work. I am still adding to the pile too but I have be canny and secretive about storage ! My wife thinks I am taking over the house slowly, slowly with all the stamp 'stuff'. I think she is right !

I have never thrown out stamp periodicals/magazines. The APS monthly magazine, Linn's Meekels, ASDA magazine, and when I can get it the DBZ (German stamp magazine). I save them all, and sometimes read them years later when I forgot what I've read :-)
On some occasions I bring a couple of issues with me to the doctor's office, where I hope someone may tire of the gossip rags and Lady's Homely Journal-type that bore most waiting patients to tears. Over the years if I've brought just an inkling of interest in stamp collecting to someone waiting for a doctor, I will have been successful. When I think of it I tape a little notice of our local stamp club's next meeting on the cover. So far no-one has yet told me they saw a magazine and started coming to our meeting but hope springs eternal.
Now that I think about it I should make up little sticker/labels with the TSF domain to stick on the magazines at the doctors office; maybe even on the bathroom walls.......

On some occasions I bring a couple of issues with me to the doctor's office, where I hope someone may tire of the gossip rags and Lady's Homely Journal-type that bore most waiting patients to tears. I wish that we went to the same doctor(s). I’m sitting in a waiting room right now. I always bring my iPad with me but some of the doctors I see don’t have wifi available. To counter this, I have found several philatelic publications on PDF and downloaded them to my iPad. Most recently, I downloaded the 240 page Robert A. Siegel auction catalog of the William H. Gross collection. By having it on my iPad, I can still entertain myself irregardless of whether the doctor’s office has wifi or not.

After the last move I've only kept magazines from societies to which I have, or have had, a relationship.
Like the Philatelic and Numismatic Society of Ripoll (North of Catalonia) were I write on every issue
Barcelona Water Supply Philatelic Association
The Collector Society of Palma de Mallorca (Balearic Islands). There I also wrote many articles for some years.

About 20 years ago, I was given by a late friend a nearly complete run of the Gràcia (Barcelona) Stamp Exhibition magazine from the start, in 1950 to the end in 1996.
Going through their pages. I can feel the flavour of a long gone time. But, actually, nothing to miss. These were the hard years of a never-ending postwar. In fact, it didn't end until November 1975...

The paper, deals with the relationship between poster-stamps and other advertising means. Mainly paper, tin and tile posters.

Mr H,
That must take of a lot of room. Do you go back and read them?
As for this, how do you all remember this? Do you bookmark the links. store post in some file or program like OneNote??? I often run across information I may not need immediately but at some point may want to find. You can end up saying "Where did I see that post"?

Besides downloading and storing the files, I used Evernote extensively. I grab articles, images, PDFs, even entire websites. So it's usually very fast for me to find something later. I think I have close to 30000 individual notes about stamps.

They take up three full copy paper boxes and much of a fourth. I do occasionally look back at them. I will be going through them soon to get them back in order.

angore I bookmark every reference I can, and will periodically cut and paste the address to a Word doc in case something happens (I did once accidentally ( I still question this) delete all my book marks and it to some effort to find everything again. I also print out all downloads (which yes, is a rather lot of pages for some) and place into binders (which I am soon to run out of shelf space, which I hope will be the motivation I need to convert some no-longer used space (my recording studio.. sad but true) into a dedicated stamp room) What recording/composing I do, I no longer require a dedicated 'tracking" room. Maybe this fall/winter, assuming a few other tasks get completed

I now use Evernote as well, but have been using "Pixave" to save entire web pages top to bottom.
I should figure out Evernote & use it more.

Not sure if anyone is aware of this. I just found out about it myself, but haven't had the opportunity to try it yet. If you have old links written down, or URL's saved somewhere, but the actual webpage has gone *POOF* and disappeared, some of them can be retrieved using a service like the Wayback Machine Internet Archive. It looks like there are several similar sites on the net as well. I'd be interested in hearing if anyone has tried these with any success. Here is the Wayback Machine link. archive.org/web/
