Thailand Having trouble with this one . Unlisted Scott (would be Sc1950b) Royal Barge sheet of 10 Scott has it as Year 2000, however Questa has printed top LH Corner "15 Por yor 2544" Translates to 15th PrusajitGayon 2544 (Buddhist Era) which is commonly understood as 543 years before the Christian Era. So 15th November 2544, take 543 is Year 2001 Is this a mistake, or have I missed something? Thanks

It looks like it says 2001 on the stamp itself, within the text beneath the barge.

(display pack?) Thanks Hi, Rodney! According to the 2014 Scott, the sheet is Scott #2375, with a catalog value of $4.50 mint or used. There's no additional footnote or info about a display card or pack. It does say that there is a hologram with the 5th state, the 25-baht stamp. Note also that there is a separate set of 5 stamps, which look a little different than the stamps on the souvenir sheet. They are Scott #2370-74, with a cv of $1.60 mint and $1.10 used. (No hologram.)

Rod....very nice revenues....I love that design....year? No idea Jim, I do not have Thai specialist Catalogue, after 1915 (These are circa 1935) They were $1 Often very cheap, Thai stamps suffer badly from "tropical toning" and so many are budget, providing you can personally accept a lower grade.

Very different valuations. I do not have the Thailand cat. btw - my scans are always nicer than Nelson's René

I don't know anything about this area but it wouldn't surprise me, given the price differential, to learn that the surcharge overprint was frequently forged. When comparing your stamp with the illustrations in the Scott catalog, I don't see a distinct match to either the Scott 20 or Scott 25.

Thailand, my new stamp habit for a while. Nice starter. I hope you get as much joy from Thailand as I have. Try and get some nice Thai Catalogues. Sakserm is the best and I still use mine. Unfortunately he stopped making the catalogues and there is a new kid on the block called Somchai (I think since 2014)

Today, December 6, is my sister's birthday. I never knew until today, however, that she shares a birthday with King Bhumibol Adulyandej of Thailand which is a national holiday in that country. King Bhumibol is, sadly, deceased but his legacy lives on in the many colorful definitive series Thailand issued with his portrait. I am missing the 80 satang and 40 baht denominations and my 20 baht and 25 baht stamps are space fillers but this is still one of my favorite sets nonetheless.
