What I collect: Worldwide Stamps, Ephemera and Catalogues

Hi, I can only guess, with what's presented in front of me. I would GUESS it to be 1865 Scott 29 bistre or yellow ochre, Gibbons #52 Perf 12.5
Lovely block of 6, envious.
You need to speak to a dealer, or collector with means to identify the watermark, and its orientation (should be sideways) Quite valuable if genuine.
Best I can do.
I advise a caveat "A little knowledge can be dangerous" I am by no means an expert, as far as I know the 1865 was made by hand made paper, the rest by machine made paper There 4 different orientations of the crown over CC wmk, each holding a different value
My personal concern is the 1865 was the line perforator for the 1863 issue, was fitted with new pins which tended to tear and weaken the paper
Your stamps shown have beautiful punctured examples
Whatever assistance you employ, please post back here, I would be delighted to hear opinions.
PS: I used math to estimate the perforation guaging, and believe it cannot be perf 14

l8u7se Brilliant! well done you. So it is Watermark 2 1882 Perf 12 (1885 mogens juhl) Scott # 44 Ocher Yellow (sic) Mint circa $120 used $10 Block of six ..... enviable and expensive Check Perf 12, by lining up the teeth to match the perf 12 lines I don't do valuations, they are circa catalogue prices, they are worth what someone is willing to pay Remember always check, don't take my opinion as gospel. Information from Mogens Juhl Catalogue check your watermark orientation

l8u7se You may wish to try lining up the teeth on the side of the stamp My math gives your stamps a reading of 12.17 x 12.63 12.63 seems a little high for a perf 12.

I offer this for your reflection, we all (collectors) have differing opinions (oft strongly held) With Perforation guaging, i prefer to line up the teeth with the guage lines (Not the holes) I believe lining up the holes (esp with strange perf configurations) can lead to error.
In fact, I prefer using the "sliding scale" on the side of the perf guage, as the most accurate of any
I reiterate, only my opinion, perhaps try differing methods yourself, and make your own decision.

Western Australia Banks are closing. (gradually) Automatic Tellers are closing (gradually) Cash is becoming harder to source (gradually) Now Post Offices are closing (Gradually) Five metro post offices to close after accepting Australia Post buy back offer. Five Perth metro post offices are set to close after accepting offers from Australia Post to buy back their licenses. Australia Post confirmed Local Post Offices (LPOs) in Mt Claremont, Burswood, Lynwood, Wembley Downs and Winthrop had all accepted offers through its' Voluntary Handback Program. While LPO Group executive director Angela Cramp says it's welcome news for struggling post offices, Mt Claremont deli owner Glen Chapman says it's devastating for his local community. link

Part way through looking in the large cardboard box the Oz black swan fell out - completely ruined unfortunately - do people think this is the Perkins Bacon 1854 imperf SG 1 - apparently only 14 or 15 are known to exist?? Sorry the picture quality is poor. Well, it certainly looks like SG1 as the Spanish might say " en mal estado!" Cat £275 used if complete. However, I am puzzled where you got the information that only 14 or 15 exist. As W A is a popular area, that level of rarity is not what you would expect with a relatively modest catalogue price. The catalogue suggests scarce but not RARE. Is this an sg1 as it is not dated on the page.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

I cannot help you marbles on your one penny black swan. I have none of the early imperf and rouletted examples like yours but at some point I did accumulate a sizeable flock.

You appear to have an interesting group of Western Australia there . Two copies of the 1d Black swan Margins are trimmed close and the first one looks damaged at the lower right corner. The second one looks decent. In good condition they are catalogued at £350.. The basic FOUR PENCE below is also an expensive stamp ( better if the corners had not been chamfered but there are a number of identifiable flaws in the catalogue which to the specialist command high prices. Gibbons lists about 20 of these flaws all priced ££££. It would be worth while if you can get a knowledgeable collector to examine it in detail. A better picture the right way up would help. The shilling green the Penny rose and the SIXPENCE grey have all had their perforations trimmed off which is a pity

For others like me to whom this is a new term, here is an illustrated explanation from a carpentry website. I’ve learned so much from reading your posts, vikingeck!

We were hoping to go to York racecourse in July but depending on husbands health. It was a hobby of his dads before he died but hubby is also interested but unfortunately does not know as much as his dad did. Some are nice but most are faded or have foxing on. I will add a few more but there a lot.
