Bermuda's 1953-1958 issue consisted of 20 stamps of varying designs ranging in value from 1/2p through £1 (Scott 143 to 162).
The stamps were issued perf. 13.5x13 and 13x13.5.
The central design feature of the £1 stamp is Bermuda's coat of arms.

Quo Fata Ferunt The Sea Venture, a resupply vessel bound for Virginia, is shown crashing into an outcropping of rock in this detail from a map of Bermuda printed in Amsterdam in 1640 by the cartographer William Janzon Blaeu. Diverted by a hurricane in July 1609, the ship and its passengers lived on the Bermuda Islands for ten months before finally making it to Jamestown. An English colony was later established in Bermuda. This map detail shows the coat of arms for the Bermuda Company (a version of which was adopted as the country's official coat of arms in 1910). A red lion holds the scene of the wreck in his paws beneath the Latin inscription "Quo fata Ferunt," or "whither the Fates carry [us]." That phrase, taken from Virgil's Aeneid, would become the official motto for Bermuda. www.encyclopediavirginia.org/media_player?mets_filename=evm00002900mets.xml

Rod, if I needed (or more importantly, could afford) a "personal shopper" for stamps, it would be you. You always manage to find nice-looking stamps that I might have overlooked otherwise.
Well done, as per your usual!

Hi Dave, high praise indeed In this case it was Steve's stamp (and a beauty too) It's good we can all laugh at ourselves, I just blew up Ebay for not responding to a complaint I made to Paypal, utterly embarrassing, but we humans do stuff like that.

Rod, I'm sure you and eBay will eventually work things out ...
A saying that I once had framed:
"Blessed are we who can laugh ourselves, for we shall never cease to be amused."
