I began collecting Cook Islands, but soon found out it is quite expensive, the full set of QE2 seashells is now fetching $50-$60 IIRC.

Rod, you know google is our friend. A quick search turned up the website for the Scouts on Stamps Society (now) International. And Mr. Thorsen Jr, still seems to be involved. www.sossi.org/articles/history.htmThat membership letter appears to date from 1953 (about halfway down the page).

Picked this item up today. Not a Scouting stamp, or even post card (it's the classic 'Greetings from Toronto Canada' on the obverse). But looks like a Brownie project including a 1957 Canadian stamp of explorer David Thompson. Hope they got their badge for this one.

If you're into Scout topical collecting, I HIGHLY recommend the Scouts on Stamps Society. They have an excellent check-list of stamps broken down by country and year. And they evaluate stamps issued by the world every year and update the check-list. I believe they also have pages you can print out. I made this page with my son for US issued scouting stamps:

Here's an issue from Greenland that just missed its spot in line on our calendar cancellation thread, so I'll go ahead and post it here - by the time its turn comes around again in 354 days, people will have forgotten about it by then, so I can get away with double posting! Sort of double posting - these stamps come from kind of an odd issue, a semi-postal souvenir sheet that contains two copies of a scouting stamp along with two copies of a Red Cross stamp. And two musk oxen (although they don't get their own stamp, they're merely extra content on the sheetlet). This souvenir sheet was issued in 1993 and the scouting portion commemorates 50 years of scouting in Greenland. The design shows two scouts looking out from within a tent, with a whale breaching in the ocean. Show-off whale! Ryan

From my fledgling hometown collection -- the stamps are, from left to right, a 7c bright carmine, perf. 11 Abraham Baldwin from the Great Americans issue (Scott 1850; Jan 25, 1985); a 3c sepia, perf. 11x10.5 Boy Scouts issue (Scott 995; Jun 30, 1950); and, a 4c red, dark blue & dark bister, perf. 11 Boy Scout Jubilee issue (Scott 1145; Feb 8, 1960). The June 1, 1985 postmark from Scout Show Station, Cicero, Illinois was in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America.

A lower right corner block of six 2-1/2p brown red stamps depicting an Australian scout in uniform (Scott 216; Nov 15, 1948) commemorating the Pan-Pacific Scout Jamboree held in Victoria from December 29, 1948 to January 9, 1949.
A 3-1/2p red brown, perf. 14x14.5 of the same design as the 1948 issue commemorated the Pan-Pacific Scout Jamboree held in Greystanes from December 30, 1952 to January 9, 1953 (Scott 249; Nov 19, 1952).

I thought this rather interesting as this is what my first troop was like, then we got a new troop and we met in the park across the street from scoutmasters house. That was actually fun most weeks. We would have a meeting then play capture the flag int eh woods, maybe a baseball game, changed every week. We just hated the snow in Ohio, that made us stay indoors.

Canada has issued at least one stamp for Scouts. I don't have it in my collection yet, so it here is from the catalog. It was issued a few days before I was born. I was involved with the "Cubs", a junior scouting organization, but aged out of it unfortunately. They were great. I then switched to Scouts. But I had no patience. The first night I went, I was incessantly teased, bullied... That was it - no more! I never went back to them after that first night. I should have given them a second chance, but what was done, was done!

Some scout stamps from the 1960's Afghanistan. Sadly, I think scouting there probably ended in the years after those stamps came out.

This "Canadian Scouting" PB, Scott 993 of 1983, Jul 6 was initiated by my late father, Editor, Publisher, Owner of the largest french-speaking Newspaper in Canada. Marc Fournier, a local Scout, was supported in his "drawing" (ref: Unitrade Canada 2018) by dad and won the Nationals for his presentation. René

salentinyou outdo !!! thanks for your many posts ! I wish I had all of your stamps but am proud of my Canadian "entry" as it was a local one, and due to my late dad who used his Newspaper and National contacts to get this "Scout Canada" 1983 stamp done !! and accepted by Canada Post René I imaged it since it is my City (local) of New Brunswick provenance !! Marc Fournier, at an age of 12, scout, was behind the printed matter, supported by my father.....no image repeat..well why not.....lol
