The Trikallo stamp would be much cooler if the women were fighting over a switchblade instead of a bottle. Crikey! Zipper. I am not going to argue with you on the forum. Now....back to my knitting.

If we were in a writing class and our professor gave us each a stamp and told us to write a story about it, and I got the Trikallo stamp, it would be instinctive to me to change the bottle to a switchblade. Much more exciting that way.

I can recall on one of her posts about taking a creative writing class and bring a friend along. During the class introduction she said "My name is Zipper and I like to shock people"
The friend said " I am with Zipper and she shocks me"

I said, "I like to shock and disgust people." But, I wasn't attempting to shock anyone here. When I first saw the stamp on eBay, I thought it was a switchblade. Only when I opened the link did I see it was a bottle. Bought it anyway, but I like my version of it better.
The two women are dime a dance girls during the 1930's or forties and they're also lovers. Both women carry a switchblade in their garter. There, I've started the plot outline for you guys. Now you finish it.
Actually, in one creative writing class I took back in the early 1990's, we were writing a collective novel. Each week a different student wrote a chapter, then turned it over to a different student who wrote the next chapter. One of the characters in the story was a guy named Box Car Jack, because he lived in one.

I have seen threads on other forums where someone starts a story and different members add to it, it can become a fun little thread. I believe I first saw it on SOR. Something with a stamp theme and it just went off on all kinds of tangents, I sure we could do one here.

Yes, Zipper - these old German labels are sure nice. Rollerskating bears! I've often wondered about the term "bee honey". I have a Swiss friend who always calls it "bee honey" when he's talking in German - he's a big fan of honey so I would pick up some treats for him whenever I saw specialized local honeys. It makes me wonder what other kind of honey there might be apart from something from bees? A look at German Wikipedia didn't help me too much, although there is an ant that makes honey called the honeypot ant. This insect stores the honey in its body rather than in a hive like bees do. Aboriginal Australians eat the ants, but I don't see that as being common for Germans! Maybe they used the word "honey" in some sort of colloquial way when referring to molasses or caramel or whatever. Beats me - "bee honey". Ryan

It's getting harder to find cool stuff. Not too long ago I had a 2 week streak where I couldn't find anything. Was quite frustrating.
It was easy in the beginning because I started with revenues and there are so many of them, then I found cinderellas, got the good ones. So I started buying postmarks.

zipper Zipper, I'd suggest your top example, is an early "Letter Seal" I would not be surprised to a specialist Osram (or globe / valve) collector, that may be worth a few sheckles.

Are letter seals cinderellas? Not wanting to argue with Admin, but I would have these as "Ephemera" They were used to seal the rear flap of envelopes, and at the same time, have free advertising for their products. To my mind "cinderellas" are stamp pretenders, these are clearly not. People around the globe refer to things differently, I have just had a discussion re "Expertiser's marks V Dealers marks" Both are correct depending on your point of view, I take "expertisers marks" because this is the expression most commonly used around, and on Auction sites.

Are letter seals cinderellas? I would consider them as Cindy's I also consider them as Cinderellas. There are other items that I have seen posted in the country Postage Stamp sections that I would post in the Cinderella section, revenues, TV Licence Stamps and Insurance stamps to name but few. But to each their own, we all have our own views about terminology and what this or that is and that's how it should be. It would be boring if we all had the same ideas and agreed with everything. So if you see a Revenue or a seal posted by me under 'Cinderellas' it is not incorrect neither is it incorrect to post under Germany, Britain or whatever. We all have our own views on what Ephemera is too and if you check on google what it means there is a huge array of answers covering just about anything in paper !!
Enjoy

Whilst at Stampex back in September I found these very well printed Cinderellas. They are Restoration Fund Stamps [Spenden Marke] for the Synagogues destroyed by the Nazis during Kristallnacht, November 1938. They were produced by the Jewish Community of Berlin in 1949 as a set of 10. Shown is a short set [of 8]. They were issued in Informative and Ornate booklets which appear to command high prices. They were stuck down in those booklets. The examples shown have very thick brown gum making the stamps feel almost like thin card. Most unusual to my eyes. I'll scan a back another time.

A lovely set from Munich Germany 1921. From the poultry, I'll guess it's an agricultural fair, but I'm happy to be corrected.

I think you'll find that the one on the left and the two on the right are actually Danish.
