I know that you collect Australian stamps and I have run across a few that must have fell into a family tree folder by accident. I thought these was long gone. The was given to me by a world class (in magazines and stuff) Australian stamp collector as a thank you. I have about 12 or so glassines of this stuff and not sure what to do with them or even what they are? Can you help shed some light on these for me? I scanned just a select few that had immediately caught my eye but there are lots more of these at my disposal. I even have a bunch of KGV era stuff too if that matters at all? Is there anything here I should pay attention too? I have no idea what to o with these? Obviously they are in no certain order. Thank you in advance for any help. Sincerely and respectfully -Jeff

Sincerely and respectfully -Jeff Hi Jeff, actually I don't consider I collect Australia, but I have been mounting some of late, prior to passing on my duplicates to Steve. You have a nice beginners collection of pre-decimals, there are some nice examples there, the Kangaroos and the King George sideface, are stuff of deep study and specialist information, I wouldn't know where to begin. One has to check every stamp minutely for Watermarks, perforations, shades etc, it is a life long study. You are a young fella, and probably have years ahead to address them, put them aside in a stock book for later reference. One simple variation can have an Aussie stamp go from pennies to $1000's you have to be very alert and knowledgeable. As a Worldwide collector I don't have time do this. The Kangaroos and the sideface are the most desired of the catalogue.

Thinking out loud Just as a matter of course, I would always separate the Penny Reds sideface (second scan, 4th from Left) and the "OS" punctures and Opts, you can expect a value of around $5 each depending on condition.

Jee-whiz! I must at least 6-12 of the OS perfins and overprints Rod! I just scanned a few to show the different styles, colors, sizes of them. Thank you. PS What does the OS stand for?

OS = Official Service, Jeff. To illustrate my point, this one was discovered in Tasmania in 1999 and insured for $50,000
