I'm still silly happy about this find! I've contacted fellow members of the EPA and from what I've learned there were rumors that a few of these were used to pay bills and mailed in Cork. But as far as we know, this is the first one found postally used. More may surface but you never know!

Philatelia, what is the story behind the stamp then? Was it not officially issued? Withdrawn? Ta.

The man in uniform is captain Jack White. But an Post was inform that that was incorrect so they pulled the stamps off the press. They did reissued a new design. I think they are selling mint on ebay for $500 or there abouts, you may have a very rare stamp on your hands if it was posted prior to the reissue.

From what we can tell of the cancel and the timeline - I mean the time for this to end up in kiloware - it was probably posted in Cork on or near the day of the release. Supposedly a few customers purchased some to use to pay bills. I've been in contact with lots of folks and so far this is the only known used copy probably from that time! If it is, I am going to faint! LOL
The EPA is going to post this find in the next journal.
As to my kiloware source - the stamp was in a sample I bought to test the waters before buying a larger batch. As soon as I get a ship confirmation on my order, I'll reveal the source. That stamp is going to be a big boon for the kiloware agent! Their Irish stock is going to sell out like lightning!

I wish they HAD 50kg. I ordered 500 grams and they are backordered. But my order went through! You're the first to know - I haven't told anyone else - I bought it in Australia!
Linn's contacted me today and asked if they could use the pic. Sooooo keep an eye on upcoming issues!
