I am honoured to revive this thread from 2017 not least because the previous post to this was by Anping, who passed away, sadly, last year. It seems a little odd therefore to mention that the Dayan Strike cover with a block of 6 has a rather big colour shift of black which I don't think was mentioned in the chats with tomiseksj. I will check my Dayan items at some point to compare. In the meantime here are a couple more labels from the Croydon-Gatwick service, featured earlier in the thread.

This is the only piece I have in my collection relating to the 1971 postal strike... Which hasn't been posted in this thread yet:

I love the whole idea of these strike mail labels. I wonder if the 2023 versions would be less focused on the government and more on the big corps like Amazon, Starbucks and Uber. As in, I'll give you a ride to the airport, but you need to buy this stamp first! I found these last night. I don't know anything about the People's League, but I think I want in.

madbaker .......The People's League Delivery Service, like many other legit and bogus services, was started by a Stamp Dealer who saw an opportunity. And why not. Prices tended to be higher than the regular mails as many saw a chance to make a quick buck. Some of course, only made money by selling labels and contrived covers. But that's another story. Your labels were produced for the 1962 and 1964 Postal Strikes. In 1971, similar designs with both pre- and decimal values were issued because the strike coincided with decimalization in the UK. The 1962 labels were overprinted for use in various UK towns and cities, purportedly for use in those areas only. It was all good fun for those who saw £'s in front of their eyes but there were many legitimate services too. Londonbus1

More labels from Allan Leverson's Bridger & Kay archive. The company and Strike Post Service were discussed towards the bottom of page 1 of this topic. Some of the types below were shown on cover in those previous posts. The third image down below shows a sheet of labels (UK-Germany) but missing the light blue. I saw a number of 'errors' when I sat with Allan at London 2010 and he said most were genuine. It was most likely a sales tactic although he was a nice guy and very informative. I have never sat so long at a dealer table during an Exhibition or Fair. In any case, it worked. I spent !!!
