I got this for the price of a burger not long ago....interestingly I always seem to justify my stamp purchases by "skipping lunch". Any information on its useage? Reunion being a department of France (although it is overseas) I hope this is the right area to post. Thanks in advance, --Jim in Georgia

Moderators / Admin could you please move this to Reunion : Stamps thestampforum.boards.net/thread/3004/reunion-stampsHi Jim, Thanks for your post explanation: We here, try to keep posts in their relevent master folder countries to try and build a valuable country database for all the students that come by Very few Stamp Forums adopt this style, but we hope it will become more valuable as time progresses. otherwise, seemingly important posts become non contiguous, fragmented and lost in small posts as more posts are added. Your stamp is a Reunion Fiscal, alas, at first glance, they appear in Forbin in French and what appears to be many varieties, hence I'll post the complete page for you to decipher We cannot always get it right, but perhaps in future, if you are undecided on where to post, "Search" and put in country, and ask for results to be shown as a thread. PS: Great Posts Jim, and nice stamp!

This is a revenue item I recently saw at auction. I resisted but it does belong in Reunion.

Reunion 1933-38 "The Demoiselles Waterfall of Salazie" These were some of the first stamps I collected from the late 1950s. I thought the image looked exotic and the engravings spectacular. I only kept the stamps showing the Falls from the larger set. I've always collected in two different ways. First there were the complete Country collections, US, France, Austria, Germany and Canada for example. I approached them as a completist. It took me 60 years to realize there is no such thing as completion in Philately. This takes me to my second collecting stream; single stamps or parts of sets that just caught my eye perhaps because of color or spectacular images but always with a fondness for those that were attractively engraved. The majority are pre 1950, generally incomplete and having no album home but living happily on Vario Plus sheets. Rob

Here are the first ones in postage stamp (reprints?) And airmail. It took me a long time to find. All that remains is to do the pages, but I have too many projects and so little free time.

Forgive me if these are a little more recent. Here are a couple of semi-postal overprints of the French Red Cross stamps of 1967, sc B26-27. These are both ivory statuettes in the Musee de Dieppe. The image of the young fiddler always makes me smile.
