What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

Yes. Very nice hdm1950.
I too have started to put together a Fiji collection, a long way to go still but they are coming along. Mine are in black paged stockbooks to highlight the stamps and make them stand out. But I love the old school method as per your fathers collection above too :-)
Thanks for sharing these with us.

Does anyone have a reaction to FijiPost selling off excess overprint sheets at the original cost rather than the overprinted cost?

Early Queen Elizabeth II definitive series. The first series had similar designs previously used for George VI but with a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.Issued between 1954 and 1956 with Mult Script CA watermark. SG 280-295 A new series with new values was issued from 1959 to 1963,with 2 values 8d and 4/- printed by Harrison in photogravure,as opposed to recess printing. SG 298-310 A third set was issued in 1962 with a mixture of recess and photo printings and with upright watermark. SG 311-325

I, too, recommend the Duberal and Jones book Fiji Postage Stamp Issues of the KGVI Period. It is well written and provides some wonderful plating information with many plate varieties not listed in either Scott or Stanley Gibbons.

This is from the latest sheet of overprints that I have received. Note that three different obliterators were used on this sheet.

Here is the latest 23c on 44c issue. Note that it has a xxx obliterator rather than the previously used xx obliterator.

For information Post Fiji is now trying to be more careful about the overprints. I don't think we have seen the last of them, but after the hurried production of the latest 1c on 44c and the resultant varieties, there is some greater concern about quality control. The overprint production is now an in-house project, and apparently there was a quick need for the 1c, and the person given the task didn't pay real close attention to what was being created. Maybe there was not access to existing overprint grids, and thus a new one was needed. We shall see what emerges.

Recently learned that the last of the 44cent sheets have been used for overprints, and PostFiji will use the 63 cent issue for the next overprints. I will submit pix of same after I receive them.

Hi, I received this letter today from Fidji (it took 3 months to reach Italy, rather slow for an Airmail letter!). I saw that some stamps are overprinted with different values. As I do like stamps with overprints I came on this page to get some information on Fidji stamps. I read some articles on the web and the matter is really interesting. Are they difficult to find?

I'm quoting from other sources as my first hand knowledge of stamps is not in the same league as most of the other guys here, so stand to be corrected when I say ..................... Unlike N.Z., who appear to have knocked out health stamps like there's no tomorrow, believe Fiji may well have produced only two separate goes at this feature. Such stamps show a cost premium which may originally - quoting from SG 'Philatelic Terms Illustrated' - 'have been dedicated to health camps and TB sanatoria for children'. Fiji seem to have issued these for 1951 and 1954 only - these here are obviously for George VI for 1951 and shown in the form of a FDC. The cancellation shows Suva, which I think is the largest city and is the capital of Fiji.
