Hi all, I'm I'm a US citizen now retired in Morocco and returning to an earlier love....stamps. This time my collection reflects a lifetime study of swords, knives and use of same. My first stop was at the ATA to join and get their checklist. A sad thing it is. It lists only 200+ stamps on the topic and is obviously a very quick skim of the material. GREAT! I can spend hours pouring over catalogs and looking in the back alleys of the net to add to the list and improve my collection. In just a few days of casual search I found such gems as the first four issues of Danish West Indies with crown scepter and sword and fifty other treasures. I hope to send ATA my checklist additions in the fall to slowly improve it for others. Any help anyone can offer greatly appreciated.

Let's cut to the chase and start posting images! The Burgoyne Campaign stamp, issued August 3, 1927 (Scott 644). Design is fashioned after the John Trumbull painting depicting General Burgoyne prepared to surrender his sword to General Gates who, out of respect, refuses to take it and instead directs Burgoyne to the tent to take refreshment.

I sure your hunt will be never ending. Any military stamps with soldiers are a good source, the recent GB stamps of military uniforms a number have swords. Don't forget to look for butchers they most often have a knife in hand. Fishermen, hunters even carpet layers. Is there a stamp for carpet layers? If so rod222 might have one in his data base.

The sport of fencing could be a rich vein of material for you. I think you could find over 400 stamps on that topic.
Although there are earlier examples, from the 1980s most Saudi Arabia stamps include a palm tree above a pair of crossed swords (the coat-of-arms).

TSF member tallanent posted a study on the various labels celebrating the 1937 coronation of Great Britain's King George VI -- that work may be viewed here. Below are two swords featured in the Regalia set printed by Harrison and Sons, Ltd of London: the Sword of State and the Sword of Mercy (also known as Curtana).
