What I collect: Cinderellas and some Ephemera from Great Britain, France and Israel plus a few beautiful bits from elsewhere !! Topical interests include Flags & Judaica, the latter with an emphasis on the Jewish National Fund.

A very fascinating local issue the design of which is based upon the Seal of Stockholm with King Eric IX in the centre. Set up by Anders Jeurling in 1887, the stamps, which were ordered from C.Ferslow & Co of Copenhagen, arrived with a major error. The denomination was in Danish Øre and NOT in Swedish Öre !! New stocks were prepared and arrived on time for the issue date of December 6th 1887. They were very popular, so much so that the 'error' printing had to be used. I have no information about the size of either print run. Due to the haste in which the correctly denominated stamps were produced, many varieties can be found. In fact it is said that it is possible to place almost every stamp in it's correct position within the sheet [pane]. The sheets were printed in 2 panes of 100, 10 x 10.
There is much more to the story. I only have a few paltry copies which I show below including both the Øre and Öre types. Price prohibits me from trying to put together a sheet of one of the values but I will continue looking !!
I have a list of varieties and their sheet positions should anyone be interested. But there may many more, it is said !
ERROR.
Apart from all the other differences, You will notice a much darker shade on the correct printing below.
Two other values in the correct denomination. I really like the bi-coloured types.

I have a few of these, so I'd be curious to see a list of varieties. I have no intentions of trying to reassemble a sheet, though. Here is one I posted on another thread a month or two back. Not the error:

Here's the page from my Swedish album I was able to make from the info in rod222 's excellent journal: In turn, I have to thank Londonbus1 for bringing it to my attention. I was unaware the differing "Ores" Lovely page CS. I find these locals don't very often appear in Literature, auctions etc. I was looking through my notes, I have a foggy recollection of how young boys were employed as letter carriers, but that may have been the Danish Local Posts.
