Two years ago on a whim I decided to start a stamp forum, the first couple of weeks was a true test. We had just a little handful of members I look back at the days when our number of members was just 20 but we kept marching and grew slowly. Now we have well over 240 members with lots of different interests.
Within our first year we were accepted as a chapter of the APS and won a Vermeil in its annual web completion. this year I hope we receive Gold. This is thanks to Steve's hard work who is our APS rep.
We have also grown some great threads on Cinderella's. One that pops to mind is the Canadian thread and the Buses threads are outstanding.
Talking about threads, Rod has shown many pages from his albums always a treat to look at. The postmark calendar thread will keep a person busy reading for a few hours, lots of great postal history, you will find yourself going around in fun tangents.
But one of the most important things to mention is the generosity of the members of this little forum. The giveaways over the last 2 years have been unbelievable. I can recall one member sending a les Gibson guitar to a member to help him cheer up while he was down. Others sent cash to help out, great gifts of kindness, I received many PM's from Jeff asking if I was involved and told him nope just your friends on the forum. One pm he said he was short on cash and didn't know how he was going to pay the bus to go to the hospital, he received his mail for that day and inside was some cash that solved the problem, no sender information just a note from a friend from TSF. In the first year Jeff was very involved with helping kick start the forum.
We have lost a couple of members, Mac, Huckless and Jeff but I sure they are busy in the big Bourse in the sky.
In 2 years we have never had any trouble on this forum, My hat goes off to the members that conduct themselves is such a civil fashion, its so easy to fly off the handle when you are passionate about something, but here we have a very laidback approach.
So I raise a glass and thank all the members for the hard work they put in. Good luck in the second anniversary giveaway draws to those that put their name in.

Happy 2nd Birthday to our Forum. Long may it live for all of us silly folk who collect little bits of paper. Long may the posters post and the Postmen Post [Postwomen too !]. Let us remember those who have gone [ILS, Mac and huckles]. And think about those who will come [another 240?]. Let us thank our great leader who has a heart of Gold and likes good food, Let me thank all those members who have posted so that I can learn about stamps, And all those who have made me laugh [and cry] Let me thank also frog who has been an inspiration and a great guy.
Happy 2nd Birthday to our Forum.
I raise my glass [of milk] to you all and especially to Rod and his next 6,000 posts. And as sip this glass of white stuff and prepare for one of the celebratory giveaways, all I can think of saying is........BOTTOMS UP !!!!

Well I had a email from Steve Today, he got the results of how we did in the APS web completion.
After last year we received a Vermeil just shy on a gold. I looked at what we could improve on so we would get a gold this year.
Well we did not get a gold not even a Vermeil we didn't even scrape up enough points for a silver we got what's called a Silver-Bronze. But we were on the bottom of the award list.
Now for my rant of the day.
The next time someone informs me we should change this or that, the answer is NO I think many members here agree we are just fine the way we are. Just look at all the giveaways that happen on this forum, any given week a member has a giveaway.
Has there ever been any fighting words exchanged in thread No, a few during the live auctions but that's ok.
Read the threads and you will see the support members have given to members in need, many will bring a tear to your eye.
We were told we need to improve our grammar, we are a world wide forum and some members will be using translation tools so if grammar is a little off so be it. I wont lock a thread because someone spelled a word wrong or had trouble with posting a picture.
I have been trained to do audits and have done many different types of audits and what the APS uses I think is not a mint unhinged audit but rather a used with missing perfs and with a major fault. Guys you need to improve your audit tools.

Judgement We entered a competition, in doing so, allowed a judgement. We were judged, we came last. That’s OK. That’s fine. A judgement is merely an temporary opinion, that is subject to review. Every member can judge our forum, by a personal enjoyment quotient As long as we are consistantly responsible, caring, honest and kind, why waste energy on all the other stuff?

Guys you need to improve your audit tools. Jack, I know there's something I want to say about this. I'm just having trouble putting it into words. I see that StampoRama won the gold. I visit that board, this one and Stampboards in Australia every day. TSF is my favorite. I have established relationships with ease here. I have also learned some things about airmail stamps here, most recently those French Guynemer tax stamps. Airmails rarely come up on the other boards. Overall, I think this is the most interesting board. StampoRama had an angry exchange recently when people tried to discuss the purchase of a catalog. That was supposed to be done via personal message, I believe. Anyway, I was startled by the sudden explosion of anger. It seemed out of proportion to the transgression. I have never seen an ugly exchange on TSF. Stampboards I find least informative, mostly because it is primarily Australian. Still worth reading, though. Jack, I know you and Steve (and others, I guess. I don't mean to leave anyone out.) put a lot of time and work into the board. I suggest you judge your work by the friendships and obvious appreciation you have gained. What someone at APS thinks of TSF is really unimportant. TSF is an exchange of information among friends. It is not the New York Times. The opinions of your members are much more salient. I think it is clear that they like this board.

I won't spout off on the judgement of others.Let me just say I for one could care less what someone thinks is right or wrong with what we do here.I take a bit of blame ,my spelliung is terriblle at times.TOO BADD. Are we promoting stamp collecting?? Are we supporting any and all that may come for help ?? Mission accomplished.

Hi Ed I find that surprising. Putting aside judgements on that board, I do find, when I get stuck, really stuck on an issue, very often they come up with the answer in their archives. They have been around the longest I should say, and built a good reference study, as we here, are doing.

They have been around the longest I should say, and built a good reference study, as we here, are doing. Rod, I think it is because I specialize in mint airmail stamps from the interwar period. The people on Stampboards seem primarily interested in the British area. Britain and its Commonwealth/colonies/protectorates did not issue many airmail stamps (Unlike Nicaragua, for instance, which seems to have issued a new set every week!). So not much of great interest comes up there for me. That said, occasionally things pop up. For instance, got some information once on New Zealand's pigeongram stamps. I also like the discussions of album design and philatelic equipment.
