OK, I'm sorting through some late 19th/early 20th century Swiss stamps. I'm doing pretty good figuring out the Granite v. White paper. But I'm stuck on the numeral issues 1882-99 (Scott type A19). What is the difference suppose to be between Sc. 69-76 and 113-118 (from 1905) ?? According to Scott, both are on granite paper, they are both typographed, perf 11 1/2, and the colors seem to be pretty much close to the same. I've been trying to read some of the cancels to at least eliminate some possibilities, but not that much luck. Am I missing something?

The note on watermark types may help you identify most of them, unless you have the varieties from the 1882-99 issue. From my reading of the catalog, the 1882-99 issue appears to be primarily type 1 and the 1905 issue type 2. Also, running the cancels through the retroReveal program may help you determine the year of cancellation.

Well, I guess I need to not be doing so much stamping that late at night, or at least wait until the morning to make inquiries. The watermark makes it pretty easy and I should have noticed that in the catalog.
Thanks for the link to the retroReveal though, I just signed up. It will come in handy.

Richard, I'm glad I was able to help. The retroReveal site has helped me identify several cancels/dates and I'm sure you'll get some use out of it.
