I found a blue 1851-57 Blue Washington 10 cent stamp. There's nothing in the Scotts catalogs about a blue one. Has anyone else seen or have a blue one? It should be green because that's all the Scotts catalogs list but it is NOT green. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

With respect, Roger, without an image, you need to describe your stamp accurately. Disclose all information possible. 1851-1857 came in varied formats Perf imperf? an A12 appears in Blue-green as a reprint.

I would suggest a color changeling.Green to blue is fairly common change.

I'm sorry I didn't give much information. Here's a picture. The stamp is used, lightly cancelled, lightly hinged, Inperf. The paper seems to be hard. I thought at first it could be an A12 reprint but they are blue green.

I'm sorry I didn't give much information. That's OK, We all take advice in the manner it is meant Insulting posts are not tolerated on this forum This will increase your skill set in stamp collecting. 1. you could have "cropped " your scan of the wasted subsidiary space and made the stamp come closer. High definition scans can point to a multitude of sins, reperfs, forgeries, stationery cut outs etc & etc. Low definition scans are akin to appraising a ladies diamond ring from 3 feet. That said, not all of us have access to a good scanner. So the advice will only be as good as the evidence. Based on your image bladestamps, I would have to echo Frog's speculation, a "colour changeling" albeit, I am not an avid collector of US, and do not have evidence of this issue changing. Hope that helps. Cheers. Sundry colour changelings, Chemical or Light.
