Just came into possession of these. These are three of a set of eight Latvian stamps issued under Russian occupation in 1919. But like the Ukrainian set of 1922, these were never placed in use. Exist both perf and imperf. Reprints and counterfeits exists. Considering the inconsistent quality of these three I'm wondering if they are the repros or fakes.

Possibly in the incorrect thread James. I'll leave that up to the moderators. I have them under Russia / North West / Western Army (I like them here, because they coincide with other unusual stamps of Deniken, Kolchak, and the "Don territory" ... easy to recall and locate) There are squillions of these, that pop up generally back of book. Others may suggest thread "Latvia : Under Russian Occupation" Michel apparently values these, so maybe they list them? Overprints found...........

rod222, there is a mistake in your history of Western Army from rossia.com. The Riga was defended by National Army of Latvia with support of artilery of France and British Navies. The red Latvian riflemen force was out from central Latvia since summer of 1919.

I leave it to the experts. Scott has them listed under Latvia.

Without checking my resources The 5, 50 posted first are forgeries The last ones the 15 & 30 are forgeries The 20 looks decent , the overprint I would have to check. I may post a short study on these , posting the genuine is easier than the forgeries as there are a lot of variations.
The problem with these and others like the BNR's is that there seems to be different versions by experts as to what is genuine

Interesting, thanks Falschung. I look forward to your study. Quite honestly these are more interesting to me as fakes/forgeries than the real thing

A small selection, indicating the vast array of perf/imperf, paper types, colour shades etc.
