Considering how much we love our froggies round here, I thought that we should have a thread for our amphibian friends. I'll start. This handsome fellow is the Corroboree Frog, of which there are two species: the southern corroboree frog ( Pseudophryne corroboree) and the northern corroboree ( Pseudophryne pengilleyi). Unfortunately, like many of our froggie friends across the world, these guys are endangered. More on the Corroboree can be found in wikipedia. Stamp info: Australia Produced 1981-1983 Scott 785 Part of a series of Australian animals, set also includes the Blue Mountains tree frog. This particular stamp postmarked Melbourne, unknown date. So let's hear it for the froggies! Post your favorite frog related postal material, and even the odd toad or newt if you want.

Looks like,that amphibians are the least often shown vertebrates on stamps.

The only other stamp of Japan to my knowledge,(my collection ends in 1988) what shows frogs. It shows a scroll-drawing by Kakuyu (Tobo Sojo) (1053-1140): wrestling (Sumo) animals. Stamp issued March 25th,1977. (from a set of 2,in a long running series "Japanese Art")
