Nelson, do you know for what the $500 value would have been used? And the equivalent value in £ for 1926? Seems an extraordinarily large value for a postage stamp unless it was specifically issued for revenue purposes or the like.

Bobby, according to the Scott 2017 Classic Specialized Catalogue for Malaya-Johore: "Nos. 123, 124, and 125 ($50, $100, and $500 denominations) were available for postage but were probably used only fiscally."
Catalogue value for #125 ($500 denomination) is $23,000 mint and $325 used with revenue cancel.

Nice large images. Where did they come from?

What I collect: Cinderellas and some Ephemera from Great Britain, France and Israel plus a few beautiful bits from elsewhere !! Topical interests include Flags & Judaica, the latter with an emphasis on the Jewish National Fund.

Values are not given in the Gibbons list for the higher values. I was interested as I found one yesterday in the Simplex album.

That's a fiscal cancel on the $100 (which I assume to be SG77 judging by the date of 26/6/20), which SG prices at £50 fiscally used. However, it's supposed to be the same green as the $5, so it's a bit washed out

However, it's supposed to be the same green as the $5, so it's a bit washed out I'd noticed the date and colour. In the album, the original owner had stated that these were from the 1922-41 set but I saw that it was a mixed set of all watermark types. There are lots of these issues in singles and (stated) part sets so I will try to put together as near as complete a set as possible. All good fun but very time-consuming

A few surcharge issues from 1903 and 1904. The top row and bottom right stamps had the values cancelled by hand. You can see an example (top left) of one that missed the 'cancel' chain ! From L to R SG#54a, 54, 55, 58, 55 (duplicate!)

Going back to even earlier time, 1891 in fact. These overprints by the Government Printer in Singapore are on stamps of Straits Settlements. SG#17 & 19

Going back even earlier, to the issues of 1884-91. Various types of 'Johor' overprints on Stamps of Straits Settlements (No 63-63a) My apologies for the yellow-ish 'shading' on the stamps which has been seen on a couple of others in the past days. It's in the scan only, not on the stamps.

This appears to be a common stamp - without the tash - and the majority of stamps seem to include the final 'e'. Only posting this one as it's one of those very neat examples of an exact SON - am sure you couldn't improve on the centring if you tried. In view of the cancellation date, am assuming this has to be SG 109 - purple and olive. This is the 5c. from the 1922 - 1940 issues showing Sultan Ibrahim.
