When I try using this, I get one of those 'prove you're human' popups with some brain taser to solve. I understand wanting to suppress spammers, but just now, after answering the question, nothing happened, I was not taken to a list of matches. I tried again and got the popup, this time blank. I cannot use the search function.
Sorry if this should be going elsewhere but I didn't see where. Is there some current issue with search or more likely am I doing something wrong?

Whilst you wait for someone to hopefully diagnose your problem, you might in the meantime try using the TSF Google Search as shown amongst the other TSF functions. You may well find that this is more satisfactory anyway.

When I try using this, I get one of those 'prove you're human' popups with some brain taser to solve.... This "prove you are a human" test only occurs when a search is performed while in "guest" mode. If you sign in to the forum and then conduct the search you are not required to perform the test. If you do a search while in guest mode (i.e., you haven't signed in to the forum), after you've entered your search criteria and then performed the test, clicking the "Done" button gives you a blank pop-up box. You then have to click the "Submit" button to execute the search. If you've followed these steps and still get no results, send me a personal message with your search parameters and I'll see if I can determine what is happening.

Thanks to all for helpful replies. Probably I wasn't signed in at the time.
I do detest those little puzzles to solve in order to continue. Not talking about on here specifically, I have in the past had to simply give up what I was trying to do on some sites because I couldn't get past them. Worse are the codes they ask you to enter and then make it difficult to read. You are squinting at some gibberish trying to deduce if a particular character is a number or a letter. They are I suppose necessary, just seems they are often made intentionally difficult.

Often when I sign in to a site I don't see the 'remember me' box, then I wonder why it isn't remembering me.
