I'm running low on my Marlate mounts and looked online to order more. It apears they are a things of the past. I'm not surprised as the ones I've been using are probably 40 years old. Too bad; I liked them. So my question is what mounts are used now? I like the black background; would like my pages to look consistent. Is there anything available that would be similar to the Marlates? They are 3 ½ x 2 ½ and could be cut too fit four stamps of average size and had adhesive backing.

Most collectors will probably recommend Showgards. They have a wide range so they may have the right size. there are also lower cost seconds (1/2 price) available & I have not seen complaints link

I guess I'll have to get edumacated more -- I've barely figured out centimeters and it looks like mounts are now measured in millimeters.

I primarily use Prinz/Scott mounts.
10 millimeters equals 1 centmeter.
Typical mounts: 25/26, 28, 31, 33, 35/36, 41.

I have Showgard, Prinz, & Scott mounts, all in black. When they are in the books, I can't tell the difference in them myself. They all work good. I usually try to buy seconds because I haven't figured out why they are seconds yet and they are a lot cheaper.

Scott/Prinz mounts are about 25% less expensive than Showgards. If you buy Showgard seconds, then the SG are about 15% cheaper. I have used them and have not really seen what makes them seconds and they come without that fancy packaging.
If you are just buying mounts by mail order, I prefer Global Stamps since shipping over $25 is free. Their unit price is slightly higher than say Subway/Amos but for small orders it is a much better deal (like 10 mount packages or less).
If you are spending over $150 on Scott/Prinz, you get free shipping and a low price at stamp-mounts.com.
I have ordered from lots of places so have compared.

If you still want Marlate mounts, I have several (around 10) unopened packages of single and block sizes. I don't have a use for them and was going to toss them. Be aware though that the material they are made from is not archival quality, and other mounts may be better for long term storage.

Hi Judith
I use Showgard mounts and have so for umpteen years. I feel that they are a little thicker than Scott mounts.

Seconds
I have never heard of Seconds. Thank you for the link. Looks like a big savings for me there. I always order mine from Global Stamps and I always make sure my order is over $25 for the free shipping.

I use Uni-Safe stamp mounts, from th same Company that produces the 2019 Unitrade Specialized Catalogue of Canadian Stamps - I order them from Montreal and they always have specials. I prefer them from Hawid which I also have (old stock).
