The backsides are more exciting than the stamps fronts:

The original package illustrates the separate stamps much better than the sheet itself, which doesn't have the white line borders in between the stamps.

Bhutan issued many stamps, what were different from "normal" ones. Several series were so called "3-D stamps".These were printed on a thick paper, coated with a relief-like plastik over-coating.The stamps have a certain charm what is not obvious to detect on a scan. One must see them as originals. However as they are rather unique, they are sought after and not so cheap. As an example, here the series "mushrooms",issued Sept.28th,1973

(part I of 3) Printed on artficial silk: Thangkhas (buddhist roll-paintings),issued Sept.30th,1969. The scans do not really show the vividness of the colours of these remarkable stamps. However the glue (gum would not be appropriate) sips out under the backing paper, making the stamps difficult to store.

(part III of 3) To this series there is also a souvenir sheet existing imperforated and perforated, what I unfortunately do not have.

issued May 6th,1970 This is the second set of paintings (the first is from 1968),where the stamps were embossed and varnished to imitate the structure and look of oil-paintings. (part I of 3)
