Till 1920 the postal services were administered by Austria, then administered by principality, but still run by the postal service of Deutsch-Österreich.On February 1st,1921 the PTT of Switzerland took over and remained in charge ever since. The same day saw the introduction of the Swiss Franc, replacing the Austrian Krone,as currency of Liechtenstein. Stamps of Austria were valid for postage in Liechtenstein side by side with the issues for the principality till January 31st,1921.

I quoted that from Scott Liechtenstein introduction thank you for correcting though.

Not quite correct: On February 1st,1921 the PTT of Switzerland took over and remained in charge ever since. Seems this is what Bombadil noted, he made no reference to the stamps being Swiss issues. Since 2000, has the postal service not been run exclusively by Liechtensteinische Post AG which appears to be a private company involved in other non postal ventures?

Thank you for the identification and additional info. So Liechtenstein is an independent country but the postal service has always been run by other countries? Interesting. Any reason why they don't have their own postal department?

Beautiful country (at least it was in the 1980s). I took a train from Zurich to Vaduz in the summer of '84. I got my passport stamped and then intended to purchase stamps but became enthralled by the Prince's art collection and spent several hours admiring the finest collection outside of a museum that I have seen.
