The "France Libre" issues stayed in use even after the war was over and new stamps had been produced. An example here is this cover mailed November 1st, 1947, from Papeete and destined to Aulnay-sous-Bois in the Paris suburbs.

Do you think this one from Wallis & Futuna is philatelic in nature?
Addressed to Monsieur Père Noël in Nouméa, New Caledonia? Currently listed on Delcampe for about AUD$130. I came across the listing and have been interested in getting to the bottom of this one.

Catweazle, I looked up what TRAPAS means and found the following (I don't know if it's correct): "SOCIETE FRANCAISE DE TRANSPORTES AERIENS DU PACIFIC SUD (TRAPAS): French Polynesia (1948-1955). TRAPAS is formed at New Caledonia in 1948 to provide air transport between the islands making up the French empire in the Pacific Ocean area. On Septem. ..." If I'm not mistaken, does your cover have a 1947 cancellation? I should continue the checks.

I would agree that this nice cover is "philatelic" in nature and addressed to a Pierre Noël, a very common french family name - It is also used as a surname, dorincard It is also postmarked 1947. René

It might depend on the contents. If a philatelist was sending stamps inside the envelope to another philatelist then does that make the cover purely philatelic? I would say no Daniel
