ADMIN NOTE: This and the following 4 posts were moved from the "Watcha Been Stamping?" thread.
Along with some recent Straits Settlements and Malaya stamps purchased recently, I found this stamp, overprinted Sungei Ujong, which is similar to others listed in my 2016 Scott catalogue under Malaya-Sungei Ujong. Scott's catalogue says: "Formerly a nonfederated native state on the Malay peninsula, which in 1895 was consolidated with the federated State of Negri Sembilan." However, the overprinted words Sungei Ujong shown as Scott's #4F (subletters g-k) are all different--the second line of lettering on my stamp " U J O N G" is much more widely spaced than the " UJONG" shown in Scott's. I'm wondering if there is a more detailed listing for Stanley Gibbons for this stamp???

Here's the relevant section: So what you're showing us in the Type III overprint, and the stamp would be YT#3a.

The International Stamp & Coin SDN BHD's cat of Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei has this page on Sungei Ujong:- From the notes it would suggest the narrow letters make it no6.

feebletodix and hrdoktorx,
Thank you both immensely for the information on the overprinted Sunei Ujong stamp I posted above. Until three days ago I never looked at those catalogue pages in Scott (or elsewhere), let alone ever ran across any stamps from there!
Seems International Stamp & Coin SDN-BHD and Yvert are a bit more complete than Scott's, at least pertaining to my overprint. And it looks like the few dollars I paid (for a whole page of various older Malayan States) will fill quite a few holes I had in that area, and give me an education--and impetus to learn more about them-- to boot! Also it's nice to see it likely has a catalogue (though it's not near a likely retail) value of more than most of the other Malayan States stamps I have so far--at least in the local "$" (Malaysian) currency!

I have a spare copy that I have listed previously for trade.

These stamps were printed with the 2 words "Sungei Ujong " separately which accounts for many variations of size and position. Needless to say there are loads of forgeries with so many possible varieties. A few probable genuine samples... Type 10 & 25 Type 27 & 30
