1894 French SudanSc 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 OK, so this is what the Navigation & Commerce stamps can look like when you have a good scanner and you really know how to use it! Very, very nice, Nelson. That's why I want to eventually be able to post images that look like yours.

Two stamps from that definitive series were re-issued by Vichy France in 1943 (notice the RF mention changed to AOF in the top left corners):

Yvert 37-59.issued from 1925 to 1930 with stamps from Upper Senegal and Niger, with new colours and surcharges. In 1931, a new series of stamps were issued. The lower values,YV 60 to YV 67 portrayed a Sudanese woman at a market. There are two stamps I am missing. After a long search,I purchased them in May but unfortunately they were lost in the mail,so am searching again.

YT 72 and 84 on a letter sent from Segou to Cannes,France in January 1940.The letter has a cancellation from Le Vaguemestre...the Regimental Postmaster of the 2nd Regiment of Senegalese Riflemen.I have been told the F-1 cancel is some sort of censor marking but cannot find any more information on this.
