HAWAIIAN CENTENNIAL PHILATELIC EXHIBITION, Honolulu, 1951. The show was organized by the Stamp Clubs of Hawaii [Hui Pooleka o Hawaii] to commemorate the Centenary of the Hawaii Post and their first stamps. The labels below reproduce those first stamps. Printed in sheets of 12 with two stamps inverted. Exist in blue on Yellow, green and blue. The show was held from June 27th-30th at the Hawaii National Guard Armory. I am sure these Imperf varieties are contrived, but the labels from this Exhibition are NOT in the $1 bracket. I have no idea on numbers printed but they always seem to be on the expensive side. 5th INTERNATIONAL PHILATELIC EXHIBITION, New York, April 28th-May 6th, 1956. The show was held at the Coliseum, a new venue and Rod222 gave us some interesting information in an earlier post. Please check it out ! This Exhibition together with an Auto show and photographic Exhibition were the first to be held at this venue. Commonly known as 'FIPEX', a number of interesting labels were produced. The very attractive triangular set of 4 have been shown previously. Here are a couple more........ Another triangle ! Those below show the Coliseum. The building was demolished in 2000 to make room for more modern ventures !! Many other items were issued throughout the event. Please post 'em up if you have any. Thanks LB1, I have bookmarked it. Wow, some interesting information in it. I see that the 1913 issues (non-overprints) that I posted above, were banned by the NY attorney general because he thought that someone might use them for postage!

Maybe that's why they were overprinted. I have wanted that set for a while but always too expensive or elusive. One day.

To celebrate that thought [see previous post] let's ring a few bells ! 1942 SEPAD STAMP EXHIBITION. The Associated Stamp Clubs of Southeastern Pennsylvania and Delaware [SEPAD] held their annual Exhibition at the Essex Hotel, Philadelphia in May 1942. They produced some nice labels in these Bell-shaped types showing within the design the Minuteman on a War Savings Stamp. Interesting labels. In 1939, the SEPAD Exhibition became the first National Exhibition to devote a whole section of the Exhibits to Metered Mail. Show covers with a specially commissioned Exhibition Meter Mark are scarce. In 1942, in line with the Bell-Shaped Souvenir Sheets, Savings Stamps were given to the winners of all classes of Exhibits and were included in the Pitney-Bowes slogan Meter Mark of that year. The postage meter was in green. Londonbus1

1943, SEPAD STAMP EXHIBITION. Equally attractive Sheets were issued for the 1943 Exhibition showing the Statue of Liberty. The same venue, The Essex Hotel, was used for the event. I can find no mention of a Postage Meter for the year 1943. Londonbus1

McKINLEY STAMP CLUB, 9th ANNUAL EXHIBITION AND BANQUET, CANTON, OHIO. The McKinley Stamp Club joined the APS in 1927 [Chapter 11] and are still going strong today. Last weekend they held their 84th Exhibition. The sheets below were produced for their 9th Annual Exhibition and celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the Penny Black. The sheets are stunning, some of the best in USA Exhibition items I have seen. Produced by the House of Farnam who also produced First Day Covers under the name of Artmaster. The sheets show the McKinley National Memorial in Canton, a monument to the 25th President, William McKinley who lived in the town. Londonbus1

THE FOURTH ANNUAL STAMP EXHIBITION, 'BALISEA', March 28-31 1935. Organized by the Brooklyn and Long Island Stamp Exhibit Association, this event was held in the Momart Building and was opened by Postmaster Francis J. Sinnott. I have shown the Green Souvenir sheet which depicts the Memorial Arch [now the Soldiers and Sailors memorial Arch] in Brooklyn. The sheet exists also in Black, Blue and Dark [Blackish?] Purple. I will get around to scanning the others and will add them here should anyone wish to view them. Londonbus1

EIGHTH ANNUAL STAMP EXHIBITION, AUSTIN PHILATELIC CLUB, CHICAGO, ILL. Austin Philatelic Club celebrated their tenth anniversary in 1941 with the 8th Annual Exhibition, May 8-10. Another fine USA Exhibition sheet was produced showing the Town Hall and club Logo and badge.

1956, 'ASDA', 8th ANNUAL NATIONAL POSTAGE STAMP SHOW, New York. This event, and many others too, were held at the 71st Infantry Regiment Armory building on Park Avenue, Manhattan the home of the New York Volunteers from 1898 until the building was demolished in 1971. The labels show old photographs of a Boy and girl in circular above the banner 'Stamp Collecting entertains and educates'. Can you spot the flaws on two of the labels ? I wonder how long it was before that was spotted ? Londonbus1....a big tease !!

And I have checked close-up and both labels have exactly the same flaw. It looks like a scratch on the surface of the label but it isn't. Something got stuck on the printing plate maybe but in two different colours ? Most odd.

The Capital Precancel Club of Washington D.C. hosted the Annual Convention of the Precancel Stamp Society in 1947 and overprinted labels for the event. The Precancel Stamp Society was born out of a merger between the International Precancel Club and the Precancel Club of America. The club was formed at their first Annual Convention in Denver in 1922 and fully merged the following year at the 2nd convention in Washington. Here is a nice picture of the members who attended the first convention. Note the spelling 'Pre-cancelled Stamp Society' !! www.precancels.com/pss-convention-1922/Lots of other good info on the site too. If anyone has other labels or sheets from other PSS Conventions, please post them here. I might have one or two more somewhere. Londonbus1

The Oklahoma Philatelic Society were founded in 1932 and are still going strong today. In the early years they held an Annual convention and the labels below are from the event in 1939. They now hold an Annual Exhibition and Bourse, 'OKPEX'. More info here includes their Club newsletters. oklaps.org/

1932 NATIONAL PHILATELIC EXHIBITION and 47th ANNUAL A.P.S. CONVENTION, Los Angeles. This Exhibition and APS convention were held shortly after the end of the Olympic Games held in Los Angeles that year. These very attractive labels in two colours on the Pony Express theme were produced in small sheetlets of 4 with margins all round. Many varieties exist, contrived or otherwise ! Some colours were overprinted for use at the APS Convention in Los Angeles in 1959. www.ebay.com/itm/1959-APS-Convention-Los-Angeles-Cinderella-Set-4-MNH-/181191671247Cover envelopes, both normal and air mail were produced with the same two-coloured design cachet, but with varying inscriptions. One was produced for the 6c Coil stamps of that period. [A bit out of my price range but 'drop dead gorgeous !'. Londonbus1

SALAMANCA PHILATELIC ASSOCIATION, 1st ANNUAL EXHIBITION, Dec 3rd 1935. These come from full sheets of 16 with margins all round. My strip is the bottom one. The sheet is hugely attractive as the labels are positioned differently throughout giving a very colourful item. A real beauty. I was unable to find anything on the Salamanca PA and this appears to be the only Exhibition and item.

(Wasn't thrilled about the price of those overprints you linked to, though.) Thanks for always expanding my horizons, not just with this post, but with them all! Much appreciated!
