Currently a heritage listed site at this address, the above-mentioned clothing manufacturing company advertised through The Argus newspaper on the 22nd September 1945 advertised "MACHINISTS, under 18 or over 45, for frocks and coats, or with permit, full or part time, no Staurday work. Apply Peerless Modes PTY LTD., 75 Flinders Lane" and again on the 5th October 1945 "PRESSER, female, over 45 or ex-service woman, experienced, for goods frocks; no Saturday work; permanent, or hours to suit. Peerless Modes Pty Ltd REPAIRER, female. 45 or over, experience" The stamp cover and stamps are from the 1930's. I love the magnificent handwriting from days long gone. These adds posted in the Argus for workers just after World War II would never be allowed to advertised now due to the specific gender references. From the postmarks, their customer locations were in remote areas and from other states. Places like Gundagai, Western Australia and Tasmania.
