Ireland Circa 1956 Principality of Thomond. Thomond (Irish: Tuadhmhumhain, meaning North Munster, now spelled Tuamhain) is a region of Ireland associated with County Clare, County Limerick, north County Kerry and north County Tipperary; effectively most of north Munster. The name is used by a variety of establishments and organisations located in, or associated with the region. Thomond College of Education, Limerick was a teacher training college in Limerick City, until it was amalgamated with the University of Limerick. Thomond Park in Limerick is the rugby stadium used by the Munster Rugby team. Thomond Villas is the name given to the old army barracks at Clarecastle. The Thomond Bridge was for centuries the only bridge crossing the River Shannon in the ancient walled city of Limerick and still carries the road from the city of Limerick through a district known as Thomondgate. Historically Thomond was one of the Kingdoms which existed in the island of Ireland before the Norman invasion. One of its notable kings was Brian Boru, ancestor of the O'Brien Clan of Dalcassians.

philatelia Theresa, are these the "doggies" issues you were after? None in my collection, I am not a big supporter of my country's stamps. But I can keep an eye out for them. What I can do, is email you a nice piece by Mr. Mike Lee from the "Australia Stamp News 2010" "Irish forerunners and political labels" Interested?

Forgot to add; You have an unidentified perfin on your page "E" - those are almost always CIE partials. I have tons of examples like that. I've compared them with other perfins and I'm pretty sure that's what they are. CIE is far and away the most common Irish perfin. CIE is Córas Iompair Éireann which is Irish for Ireland Transport System. Its a state owned company they own all the trains busses and the river way canals up to recent, as the canals made no money little care was givin to them. Irish Waterways now looks after them, a week on a barge makes for a beautiful holiday. Here is their head quarters Hueston Station Lovely old Irish building, been in it many a time waiting for a train to visit relatives coming up on the train (Coming up meant to visit Dublin) Going down meant anywhere but Dublin. rod222 will like this building.

So Rod when you get to page 8 of Steiner's its has already completed all the over prints? I haven't downloaded any of bill pages so was just wondering. Hello Jack. Apologies, not with you, are you able to expand? William Steiner enumerates his pages in year blocks, randomly. For example 1915 to 1960 may be pages 1 through 60 (not correct, just using this as an example) 1961-1980 will be pages 1 through 56 etc & etc. If you mean the early overprints, then yes, by page 7 but remember, later on in that year block, overprints will appear in later pages for Air Post, semi postal (if any) postage dues etc & etc. Steiner Ireland first block (understandably) goes to 1940, for the classic collectors, and as Scott Catalogue the semi postal, air post, etc are last) Hope that helps Come back if not.

Thank Rod.
It just I noticed that you have all your Ireland pages Numbered.
I was just curious how many pages the early overprints KGV are given, just wondering not very important.
I have some nice Ireland related stuff to post later tonight, a little postal history.
