The text regarding the imperf 3d beaver is stating that it is Unitrade (Scott) 4d (1852, thin paper, orange red). I do not see a 4d Beaver in my Unitrade Here is my 3d # 1 - If a copy of the Vincent Graves Foundation cert is needed, I will scan it but I probably posted it some time ago.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

renden as Admin stated the 4d refers to the Scott numbering not the value of the stamp which is a 3d.

CANADA 4d does not exist, so the text is in error, very simple for someone (even a "frenchie") to read René

2 very nice stamps Roy sudbury12000 . I especially like the margins on the Scott (Unitrade) 4d. To confirm the thin paper requires skills beyond me. The source does give it validity.

renden as Admin stated the 4d refers to the Scott numbering not the value of the stamp which is a 3d. Hugh, you are absolutely right. Since I do not use SCOTT variety numbers (or letters), I confused my mind with Unitrade, our CANADA Spec Catalog. Unitrade uses Scott main numbers but a totally different variety system than Unitrade. So sorry to the membership if I got that "confused". Unitrade would be also give a 4d (number 4 Beaver) for the thin paper and switch its varieties to i,ii etc for the other varieties. All along, I was stuck on # 1, a different beast (stamp). Since I have not consulted Scott Canada for years, it might explain my brain mix-up.? So sorry to you and Admin and sudbury12000 - I am the culptrit But our member has not received an answer on the type(s) of paper used for LQ printing and I may help here - All I need is a PM since this answer could be long.....do not want to hijack this thread - have done enough at this point.René
