The Cape triangles have been reborn Last week I picked up this letter, with the reverse surprisingly attractive. The postal clerks must have though the same, so the triangles were honored with postmarks. Beautiful! Thanks Chris Beryllium Guy

Ha ha! I love being described as cheeky, Alex ( vikingeck ), thanks for that! I will try to continue to live up to the moniker. Jon ( blaamand ), I am so glad that the envelope arrived in good shape, and yes, I am pleased with results, but.... truth be told, those triangles got cancelled at my request. I have learned that if you want nice things like that happen, you generally need to ask. I was very fortunate on the day I posted that letter, because I got a real patient clerk who took her time to make a nice job of it. Sometimes I get eyes rolling into the back of the head and big exhale of breath, and a sloppy execution of my request. In fairness, I would say that two-thirds to three-quarters of the time, the clerks try to do a nice job, which of course, I appreciate. I have also learned that promising to go online and give them positive feedback, mentioning the clerk by name doesn't hurt! Jon, you may have missed it, but if you are interested to know more about these Cape Triangle labels I have been making, you will find it here: thestampforum.boards.net/post/104090/threadIt was one of my lockdown projects. As Alex rightly points out, the colors are different from the issued stamps, which was an intentional choice on my part. I have used hi-res images of color and die proofs, which tend to give the best quality for printing, in my experience. Along with the larger size I have chosen, I think that using the different colors adds interest and makes it clear that these are not intended to be reproductions of the real thing, but something just for fun for those who like Cape Triangles. Stay stampy and cheeky, all!

Indeed she did a good job - more importantly you did a Great job! Now there are 4 issues of these: - Perkins Bacon & Co. printings - Local provisional print by Solomon 6 Co. (aka the 'Wood blocks') - De La Rue print - Dorn print The funny thing is that the Dorn print is the scarcer Thanks yet again, Chris

Here's the 4d 1926 South Africa triangle, SG33, on the picture side of a postcard sent to Belgium.
It doesn't appear to be common on international mail. I am unable to find a reference on the old-style RIVER VIEW postmark.

Going back to the starting-point of this thread, the Cape-Triangles.
I have few only and was never sure about Perkins or De la Rue prints. Michel does not give them own numbers, but sub-numbers only. After all they were printed from the same plates ! The above belong to the Perkins-prints,if I am correct.

Going back to the starting-point of this thread, the Cape-Triangles.
(See original post for image)
I have few only and was never sure about Perkins or De la Rue prints. The above belong to the Perkins-prints,if I am correct.
Thanks for sharing your Cape triangles, Werner, they are nice copies, with full margins all around. Just to let you know, the 1-Penny in your post looks to me like a De La Rue printing. I would say most likely an SG18b or SG18c, which are the red-brown and brown-red colors. I have always been a bit unclear on which is which. One is a bit more on the red side of the combination, and the other more on the brown side. I would say that yours is on the red side, which is similar to a copy in my collection, shown below in the lower right. COGH, 1-Penny DLR Printing Varieties Row 1: Two copies of SG18, Deep Carmine Red, "Woolly" Print on the left. Row 2: Left: SG18, Right: SG18b or SG18c Brown-Red or Red-Brown
Edit: If you would really like to be even more sure of the catalogue numbers, please post images of the backs. That is also an important factor in ensuring good identification.
