Don't give them any ideas. Spent over £50 on Rolling Stones issue. What!I know. I know. Collectors sheets, fan sheets, stamp set, souvenir sheet. Passed on the booklets.

Another thought that springs to mind (with the swap scheme). Are Royal Mail going to swap like for like (i.e. 1st/2nd) or check the stamps being "handed in" for year codes & compensate at that years issued price?? Well I said I wasn't going to collect these. Looks like I will after all. (notice the inking flaw on the 1st purple stamp) Under the back of the Queens neck/dress. Just got these from my local Post Office.

This seems genuine! It is on the official Royal Mail website. Google “ Royal Mail” and the story appears. Devastating news for those who hold a batch of unused GB decimal stamps which we now have to use within a year. By 31 January when they are demonetised I understand we will be able to trade them in against bar code stamps .. There are dealers who buy in decimal collections at 50% face to resell at 75%- I guess that market will vanish and with it some dealers may decide to quit. Devastating news for Postman Pat & Jess also, having Shaun the Sheep on the barcodes video??

I think that this is more about the number of fakes that are around rather than any other reasons and that is why just the first and second class stamps are affected at this stage. Despite all of the security features on Machins, very convincing forgeries abound. The 2D barcodes will allow fakes to be readily detected. At least until the forgers catch up with the new technology.
This is the equivalent of our bank notes becoming plastic or our pound coins becoming bimetallic.

Royal Mail has just announced price rise of 10p on 1st class and 2p on 2nd class from 4 April . So I guess my current holdings of NVI Machins will shortly be worth more until January 31 2023 👍
