Delandre Letter 17th September 1916 I came across this item recently but at over £200, it was too much for me, but probably worth it. I believe that it is worth showing here . The letter appears to concern Edmund Dulac's Red Cross stamps from 1914, shown below.

This is one of the envelopes in which the stamps were sold. The stamp on the right was produced specially for the envelope.

Delandre Advertising I purchased 3 different Delandre pages from French magazines, not identified, from April 1916. I think that they are worth showing but they are large and need to be shown across two scans. The Google Lens translation of the main text reads: 'Following the example of the Italian army, the French army and the allied armies will be equipped with military stamps, each regiment having its special model. These stamps, designed by the greatest artists, are of marvellous finesse of execution and extreme variety. Of a larger format than postage stamps, printed in colour, they are intended to be stuck by our heroic defenders on their envelopes; they will be a golden source of patriotic pride, both for those who receive them and for those who send them. They will at the same time form an admirable collection, of exciting interest and destined to quickly gain considerable value: a unique collection, of which we cannot say whether it draws its greatest value from its intrinsic value or from its heroic origin... Editions Delandre, specialists in military publications and exclusive concessionaires for the sale of these stamps, will be able to supply them at a very minimal starting price; they also publish a special album intended to preserve them. The stamps will be sold either individually or in sleeves; the first series can be supplied from March 20th. We are, of course, only committed to the number of covers available.' Daniel

Here is the second advertising page. Again, from April 1916 The main text reads: "Regimental Stamps Will constitute the most wonderful collection,a collection which will one day be worth a small fortune. 'Our collection -says the Bulletin of the Armies of the Republic in the article it devotes to regimental stamps- our collection will be complete towards the end of the month and the printing will be finished next May. At this time all Poilus [French soldiers], without exception, will therefore receive their regimental stamps. Fans will have a great time later if they manage to assemble a complete collection of vignettes from the war.' You can currently assemble this collection, complete, at little cost. Building a collection for each of your children means preparing for them a precious heritage, both in terms of its intrinsic value and the glorious memories it will invoke."

daniel, I can no longer find the site that reproduced French magazines from this period. I searched instead for "Catalogue des Estampes de la guerre" and found an interesting site: vignettesdelandre.free.fr/
