Hi Rodney Nice pair! What would you like to know I have some information on the States but not a whole lot. Jerry B Jerry, be careful who you say "nice pair" to I can tell you Jerry, the above stamps were printed in a two pass print process, the design was printed first, then the sheet was sent through again to accept the Value slug. ------------------------------------ Below : The value (in my opinion) of repairing a stamp, a terrible job, but to me, at least I can see the designers work. Better than "binning" the stamps as the ignorant are apt to do on occaisions. Below : Forgery of an unissued "stamp" withdrawn from the Stanley Gibbons catalogue. (It was listed in 1940 Gibbons as a "Provisional")

Hi Rodney If you are female it's a compliment and if you are male running around without your pants it would also be a compliment. Either way, stamps or people, it is an appropriate compliment
What is really amazing the lithographed stamps were on stones! Jerry B

Well Jerry, what does that point to? the value tablets were wiped off, and replaced as needed? What is evidenced is the value tablets, move around in relation to the vignette.

Hi Rodney
In some instances they may have, or re-entered the cliche or part . Remember they did not have much technology.
I have pictures someplace. I'll have to dig them out and get them scanned in somehow.

I just mounted part of Santander... I'm still wrapping my head around a few series. More later on. There's a interesting stamp in the following page. Scott 28 (1940, 5P, Dark Blue). It is on a very different paper than the rest of the stamps and doesn't seem to be listed on any of the catalogs I have (Scott, Barriga, Temprano, Michel): This is a scan of its back. It is like pelure... but even a pelure stamp would seem thicker in front of this one. Any info on it? The next page show some of the stamps supposedly made by a revolutionary government in Cucuta. I'd love to know more about it! And I stopped here... I still need to make sense of the stamps with the following overprints.

I made several mistakes on this state: I had a few stamps miscatalogued. It's more complicated that it seems First of all, the stamp on pelure paper that I mentioned above is actually part of a second reprint that happened on 1905 that was never actually issued. I think (hope!) I did a better job this time. My main references were Michel and Temprano. Barriga was not helpful at all. I also worked on the first three CUCUTA series. My first attempt (pictured above) was also unsuccessful. I think I got it right-ish this time. I don't have any reference to tell fakes from genuine, however, I compared every single stamp of this series among them (i.e.- every 1c with all other 1c's, every 2c with all other 2c's, and so on) and they are all very very similar. Either they are all the same fake, or they are all genuine + reprints. Or there are reeeeally good fakes out there! If anyone can share info on how to recognize fakes on these series, please let me know. Here are the new pictures:

Thanks renden... And good question. So far, I've been scanning them at 300dpi. And I'm using the "Add image to post" button to upload them here. I noticed the pages were being posted with an smaller width so this last set in particular was scanned at 400dpi but alas, no luck. Same width shown in the threads. I assumed that was how the forum work. So in order to see the Hi-Res you'd need to click on the image and play a little while with the image hosting service. Or... you can teach me the right way to insert images here and a proper resolution
