Luv those This is America labels. They're very inclusive. Showing Jeff Davis and Bob E. Lee shows there are no hard feelings. Also, the Lincoln memorial looks like a river boat!

here's one more nice set acquired last weekend (then I think that's it) This is a set of 48 labels picturing the state capital building from each (at that time) state in the union. On the back of each is printed 'Compliments of the House of Seagram'. Trust a Canadian distiller to show off American landmarks. FYI, I have an identical set, with ,unfortunately, a couple of damaged stamps, which I will be giving a way in the near future. Stay tuned...

WHATSIT !! A very interesting and lovely sheet which could quite easily be divided into panes, given the different subjects contained therein. With reference to Stamp Exhibitions in 1936, I will assume that is the time line for the issue, but it may be a bit later. Searching brought up very little but the name is familiar somehow............. The Artist / designer /illustrator of these Poster Stamps, was a Joe Banks The genesis of the series was a 1935 US program "The Land of the whatsit" written by Charles dexter Morris. (Pen name : Billy and Betty White) I would speculate the "stamp exhibition" is faux, and would relate to one of the stories in the book, or just a phantasy. The "whatsit" was a cartoon strip, used in "True Stories" magazine, and at one stage, was followed by 4 million child readers.

The seal shown here on the left I posted (much smaller!) earlier in this thread. Now here it is again with an associate I picked up yesterday. I see the one on the right is dated 1916.

Pan-Pacific Exposition, San Francisco 1915
An attractive label shows the Column of Progress built especially for the event. It stood for 10 years after the end of the Exposition. It was demolished to make way for.......yes, you guessed it, cars !!
And that's progress ?

I just saw these listed as semi-postals but I have no record of that. I am sure someone here knows more....I will dig a bit.

Loved the colors in this. Nice Label Zipper, Just a FYI If you have a desire to "square up" your images for your collection, generally here, I think we use the free Google "Picasa" software. One can rotate stamps freehand. Be aware though, if you do use it, it will try to log every image on your harddrive. If it doesn't matter to you, disregard this

It's straight when I put it on the glass, but when I close the cover I think it shifts.

Zipper, with respect, if you care to, it can be important to place a little "teaser" text string to accompany your beautiful scans For Example The US Postcards are fine, we know where to look, but the Cinderellas, perhaps something just like a quick "Imperial Fruit Show" would assist us. I found a sister to your "Cherry festival" but could not locate it here, but I know it's here Cheers Rod

Didn't think I needed to say anything about it. It speaks for itself. I was referring to the ability to "search" for the stamp / label in the future Sometime in the future when there are 25,000 images or more, a simple search "imperial fruit show" will nail your scan, your work, in micro seconds. Without teasers, your work will become lost. Joe Bloggs, living in Aberystwyth in Wales, gets a "Imperial Fruit show" label, and Googles it, Your work, your scan, and this Forum, thereby invites another member to the hobby. It's not a demand, just an offering for your consideration.

Okay, I understand why it's necessary. You're looking for keywords. I just thought it would be redundant when someone can just read it for themselves. Didn't understand the intent. TOLD YOU I was ignorant. Wish you had said something sooner. Would have labeled everything.

Just thought of something. Why not add that intention to the rules of posting so everyone knows to do it.

TOLD YOU I was ignorant. Wish you had said something sooner. Would have labeled everything. The ability to negotiate with unknown persons, and personalities, can be a minefield, so one has to tread carefully with each individual, else feelings can be bruised, unintentionally. Thankfully, you understand , and that's a good thing. I agree, I wish we were able to indicate to new collector's the importance of labelling, it is most forum's Achilles heel. If you see some labelling in your (and mine, and others) posts of the past, maybe the Moderators may have assisted

My feelings don't bruise easily. Say what you like to me.
I think we need a way to explain to new members about Google's spiders searching for keywords.

For Mother`s Day......1952. Nice Cinderella, Sir! I'd like to snaffle your scan. Anyone recall what PPFA stands for? I have tried Acronym finder, Askphil, and Google. No luck
