For any who may have wondered, the Forum's donation has been received by the APS. While the preponderance of its membership is US-based, there is a fair amount of international membership. These figures were recently provided to me by APS at my request: - There are 389 clubs, 11 are in Canada and 4 are in other countries
- There are 180 affiliates, 7 are in Canada and 10 are in other countries
- There are 22,780 regular members, 503 are from Canada and 633 are from other countries (total reflects drops for unpaid 2024 dues)
APS is extending a special offer to members of our Forum who are not yet APS members. New members who list The Stamp Forum (APS Chapter 1591) as a sponsor can join anytime in 2024 and save $10. For each member who joins APS, the Forum will receive $5 in recruiting credits If you would like to take advantage of this offer, apply online and use the coupon CLUBS. Don't forget to list the Forum as your sponsor.

...I have yet to see a cover that isn't a first day of issue cover. I would be interested if anyone has seen or has a copy of a genuine letter rather than a philatelically inspired one... Currently for sale on HipStamp (not by me):

Just a brief note to make all aware that our site's Google search impact continues grow. The February 28th result had the Forum reaching 8k clicks in the previous 28 days. We had reached 7k clicks in the previous 28 days from January 27th. During this time last year, we had reached less than 3k clicks. In order to optimize for search engines, posts containing images should always include text that accurately describes what is portrayed in the image.

... The democratic voting should settle the matter. Regardless of how this vote turns out, should anyone who has donated funds to this Forum since I assumed the Admin role in April 2018 be displeased with the manner in which funds are being spent, send me a PM and I'll gladly refund the donation(s).

Yesterday I received the below mailing, which seeks donations for The Mighty Buck Club. I will be making a personal donation; however, as an APS Chapter, I thought it might be appropriate for the Forum to donate as well. Rather than making an arbitrary decision to expend Forum funds, I thought it best to ask the membership to weigh in. Specifically, the poll asks whether or not a donation should be made and, if so, in what amount. In responding to the poll, those in favor of making a donation should place a check next to "Yes" and whichever dollar amount is considered appropriate. Those opposed to making a donation only need to place a check next to "No." For those who may not be aware, an accounting of the Forum's finances is available here. The only forseeable expense we have at this time is the $11.50/month paid to keep ads off of the Forum. This poll will remain open during March and I encourage all of our members to express their view by making selection(s) on the poll.

Just wanting to know how you identify the plate... I recommend that you go to the beginning of this thread and review the posts that have been made, many of which address identifying the plate number. This post, in particular, shows you where the plate numbers are located and what they look like.

In Portland, Connecticut on August 24, 2023, the USPS issued four self-adhesive, non-denominated Presorted First-Class Mail (25ยข) stamps highlighting historic to modern engineering architecture. Issued in coil format of 3,000 and 10,000, each coil consists of four designs: Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge (Scott 5808), Skydance Bridge (Scott 5809), Iowa-Illinois Memorial Bridge (Scott 5810), and Arrigoni Bridge (Scott 5811, shown below). A horizontal coil strip of four is categorized by Scott as 5811a. This stamp arrived in my mail yesterday on a mailing from the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation. These stamps are intended for business mailers and their use requires a special permit and a minimum of 500 letters. The Arrigoni Bridge, locally known as the Portland Bridge, is a steel through arch bridge across the Connecticut River. The bridge connects Connecticut's Middletown and Portland.

It is with great sadness that I must announce the passing of Jerry B at the age of 86 in Marietta, Georgia. Jerry was a long-time member of the Forum, having joined shortly after its inception in 2013. In addition to participation on the Forum, Jerry volunteered to assist in the preparation of the Newsletter and was always quick to remind that there was no "u" in "Colombia." Jerry will definitely be missed.

The February 6th issue of the APS Spotlight is available here. This issue touches home as our very own ronbreznay will be the featured speaker during the February 27th Stamp Chat. Rather than tell you his subject, I'll let the curious among you scroll through the issue to find it for yourself.
