Does anyone else here have fond memories of the Dangermouse cartoons? I do. But then I'm from the UK. I remember all of those characters, apart from Muffin the Mule which pre dates me, but have seen the odd re-run. Talking of mouses; I very much miss Pinky and the Brain. I thought this was one of the best animations ever made. I've been trying to get the series on DVD, but the price over here is astronomical.

I checked over my notes again, against the SG catalogue and tried to come up with a simplistic breakdown of this nightmare 2 series issue (1992 and 1993-97). But there seems no easy way. Here's what I've come up with: 1992 (June 16) Photogravure by Enschedé 42 values: of which 28 have no phosphor banding; ................10 of those 28 also exist in coils *; ................12 of those 28 also exist in miniature sheets; the remaining 14 either have one centre phosphor band, or two phosphor bands. 1 value: imperf variety. 1993 (December 14) - 1997 Lithography by Enschedé or Leigh-MardonNo wmk. 24 values; of which 12 also exist in booklet panes. With Wmk. 9 values: of which 6 also exist in Prestige booklets. * Coil stamps can only be distinguished by a number printed on the reverse on one of every five stamps. There is an unlisted coil variety which shows the number, sequenced from the bottom of the stamp towards the top (as opposed to the number sequenced from the top of the stamp towards the bottom). I arrived at a provisional count of 85 different 'values' (there's probably more) and decided to leave this for another time, as my brain hurts. Edit:Sample coil strip.

This is a postmark refined selection of unsorted definitives of the whole series. I have made no attempt to distinguish between the issues (Photo and Litho), as I want to retain the will to live. One day I'll have to bite the bullet and sort them. In the meantime, I'll just look out for the less common values that have CDS postmarks. This selection is probably a reasonable representation of the availability of the various values. The high values ($10, $20 and $50) are not included here, simply as there wasn't room.

I've found another full page of QEII definitives, from the (frustrating) 1992 series. This is just the basic set, which expanded through to the 1993/97 series. The HK postal authorities seemingly got a bit carried away with phosphor banding. So we find: no PB, single PB and two PB's. It gets worse; the later series included printings in lithography. But I'll leave that for another time. These two series were bought in vast numbers, by those speculating high catalogue price increases, in the run up to the handover of the colony to China in 1997. As a result, mint copies are very common. Used copies of some of the tiddlers are a different story. These are in my opinion the ones to look out for, as they seem to have seen little postal use. This was possibly due to changes to postal rates, or introduction of new postal rates for certain country/continent regions. The really difficult (even impossible) used examples to find, are those only issued in prestige booklets.

Ah! It's getting a little clearer. But can I preview all text settings and image links within that BBCode box?

As the majority of my scans so far are of individual stamps, I've had trouble finding one of the very few full set pages. This is a task that would take me an eternity to do, so in the meantime here's the 1988 definitives. As I indicated in my introduction post, I collect mint and used of all reigns. Wherever possible, I only obtain CDS postmarks; particularly on QEII issues, as I dislike wavy line cancellations. Although this makes a rod for my own back, such pernickitiness does eventually have its rewards. Presentation is, I'm afraid, a weak point. I house stamps on Hagner sleeves, as I am constantly shuffling things around and upgrading here and there. Maybe one day I'll have an attractive, decent set of albums. Just give me a bit more time (after all, I've only spent 30 years to get to this point).
I should indicate that this set is the second in the series. The first was issued in 1987 which can be distinguished by darker shading under the Queen's chin. The following series, issued in 1989, '90 and '91 had date imprints at the bottom of the right hand white band, under the country inscription.

Welcome Anping! Glad your here and posting those beautiful stamps. You definitely picked an area that can break a budget fast.I hope you can share some more scans of the treasures you've found. Funny you should mention that, I bid on about a dozen eBay 'high end' auction lots from the same seller last week, in the hope I would win at least 3 or 4. Well I was significantly outbid on all of them. So much for those collectors who think it ridiculous to pay more than 20% of catalogue value for their wares. Those Hong Kong lots sold for a minimum of 50%; some as high as 80%. And there's me tolling the bell of doom and gloom for the future of collecting.

When you post the image in your preview and it looks too big you can also left click on it and a frame appears which allows you to manually resize the image The viewer can then click on it and see the original size You can try it on your picture above that I resized by right clicking and going to "view image" Welcome & post more Thank you for your advice. But that brings me to a relevant point; the preview button. I have attempted to preview all of my posts so far and there is no response - nothing happens. Perhaps I am doing something wrong. Beryllium Guy: Thank you for steering me in the right direction. If the moderators feel this thread is out of place, please do move it.

Firstly, please excuse me if this is in the wrong place but I can't find a topic for technical queries.
I have been testing the posting of images and would like to know if there is a preferred maximum width of screen images. Now I use a wide 19 inch monitor, so I'm not sure if members with smaller screens are have difficulty viewing wider images.
In one of my tests, I used an image 944 pixels wide which displays fine to me. Is this about right, could it be wider, should it be smaller?

The Hong Kong Peninsula Hotel label shown further up the thread (sorry I clagged up the 'quote' function), was also used to adorn the inside lid of complimentary boxes of hotel chocolates.

Here's a favourite of mine. Not so much for the revenue stamp but the 'cancellation'. This is a very attractive company cachet of Douglas Lapraik & Co., who owned a shipping line.

Hello from Anping, here in the UK.
Hong Kong is my primary collecting interest, along with Aden and states (but has been on the back burner for a long time).
My Hong Kong collection encompasses just about everything up to the handover to China in 1997 and has been assembled over 30 years.
I collect mint and used of all reigns, Treaty Port cancels, China overprints and fiscals, Japanese occupation and the strange and curious.
I also collect postal history, fakes and forgeries, postcards and slogan postmarks.
I do take a particular interest in provisional overprints.
Hopefully, I'll be able to offer my opinions as well as learning from those on this board.
