I do not actively collect Saudi Arabia, but some years ago I inherited a small group that I add to occasionally. These are more modern, all since 1950. Early Saudi stamps are a real brain buster, and I'm not that smart anymore. Please enjoy, Scott numbers used throughout. Top stamps marked the visit of Zahir Shah of Afghanistan in March, 1950, sc 178-79. Lower two marked visit of Camile Chamoun, president of Lebanon, February 1953, sc 192-93. First anniversary of the founding of the Arab Postal Union, July 1955, sc 198-200. For a lot of Saudi stamps up until the 1970s, there is an endearing amateur quality. Artwork can be very basic, production is rough, often the English or French is wrong. One can see they were making an effort with limited resources. World Refugee Year, 30 October 1960, sc 208-10. I got the values backwards here. Arab League Week, 22 April 1962. I think this issue was produced and printed in Egypt. Sc 249-51.

And session two: just a couple more. Freedom from Hunger campaign, 21 March 1963, sc 274-76. The values are hard to see. Lower left corners, below the loop of the "P" for piastre. 2nd Arab League Rover Moot, Saudi Scout Association, March 1967, sc 451-55.

Let's look at some more Saudis. Palestine Week 1973, sc 639-40. Jedda desalinization plant, 3 September 1974, sc 650-52. Scott notes that the plant was opened in 1971. Tenth anniversary of the Saudi Red Crescent Society, 17 December 1974, sc 662-64. One of my favorites. Day of the Blind, 31 March 1975, sc 668-69. Hmmm.
