That would be the plate number. The reference books don't list the plate numbers in numerical order, but by Scott catalog number. You really need to provide more information, like, what stamp is it? I'm guessing it's a 1c Franklin, but I don't see a 21379 listed for any of the coils.
Most people will not have the patience to look things up based on minimal information. You need to show at least a pic so we know which stamp. I suspect that what you mean is plate number, not coil number? Taking a quick skim, the only 21379 plate number I see listed is for Scott #632, the 1c Franklin rotary press perf 11x10½. There might be other stamps produced by that plate, but I'm not going to look them up one by one. Please show pic next time.

If you google "21379 coil stamp" you get this as top results. The image in the auction listing is not the same plate number!

Yeah, people make typos. It happens to the major auction houses to. And, uh, to me as well, in almost every post -- notice how almost all my posts have been "edited".

This is taken from the Plate Number Coil Collectors Club website: If you see a number or, more likely, a partial number on a coil stamp that pre-dates April 1981, it is due to the coil having been miscut during production. Plate numbers were also found on paste-up coils (another strip of coils was pasted over top of the plate number to make a continuous coil for vending machines).
