In 1941, Italian Somaliland was occupied by British troops.
The British continued to administer the area until 1 April 1950 when Italian Somaliland became the "Trust Territory of Somaliland under Italian administration" (in Italian stamp catalogues or ebay/delcampe: Somalia A.F.I.S. / Amministrazione fiduciaria italiana della Somalia), a United Nations Trust Territory. Its capital was Mogadiscio/Mogadishu and was administered by Italy from 1950 to 1960.
This was the only case of a trusteeship being assigned to a defeated Second World War power.
In ten years many stamps were issued. All the stamps were printed by the Italian State Mint and Polygraphic Institute (Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato, IPZS) founded in 1928 and situated in Rome.
I find that the stamps are really beautiful and are a nice addition to many topical collections (flowers, sports, animals, engineering etc.).
