Personalities and views from Baden, 1 May 1947, French Zone (Allied Occupation of Germany) Michel 1-13, Scott 5N1 – 5N13. It is an affordable series (the price for MNH is 4 Euros in the Michel 2019 catalog ) For specialized collectors, 3 types of paper and 2 types of gum were used for this series: Paper v= white-gray, wood-containing, thick paper with a rough surface; 0.085-0.125mm (March-June 1947) y = smooth white paper 0.070-0.100mm (July 1947-April 1948) z = smooth, thin (gray) white paper 0.055-0.065mm, small partial editions in July 1947 (Mi # 9) Gumm v = smooth to fine-grained rubber coating, tinted white to brownish. w = thick, rough, clearly coarse-grained rubber coating (created by crystallization or clumping of the gum, often only occurring in parts of the arch; use can only be tested with full rubber coating) The number of stamp varieties (taking into account these types of paper and gum) reaches 20. There are also several types of drawing, the total number of varieties of stamps reaches 60. I suspect that no one has such a collection, but it is recommended to observe the stamps in your collection. Rubber stamps type "w" have a value between 10 - 25 Euro (for stamps 12, 24, 45 and 75Pf) The 45 Pf stamp on type "z" paper has a value of 100 or 150 Euro. Some images for easy identification (unfortunately, I don't have "z" type paper, but if the 45 Pf stamp has paper between 0.55 - 0.65 mm, you are the owner of the most valuable stamp in the series):

Personalities and views from Baden, 21 June 1948/September, French Zone (Allied Occupation of Germany) Michel 14-27, Scott 5N14 – 5N27. The stamps from the 1947 issue are used in other colors, 4 new values 6, 8, 30 and 50 appear. There are two new designs used at values 8, 30 and 50. On the stamps printed after the monetary reform of June 21, 1948 (Deutsche Mark - DM was introduced), DPf or DM appears instead of Pf or M.(values 8, 16, 20, 60, 84 and 1 Mark) With one exception (10 pf, Michel 17 / Scott 5N17) the stamp has "y" type paper and "v" type gum To check the 10 Pf stamp printed on "z" type paper (0.55 - 0.65 mm) and with blackish olive brown color whose value is 110 or 200 Euro. (2 types of drawing).

This is very helpful Gstamps. The pictures are great. So much easier than trying to figure out what a catalogue means. Please keep going with this thread if you are able to!!

Thanks uppercanadian for the kind words. I stopped at these 2 cheap series. The next series already reaches a catalog value of 200 Euros, which exceeds my budget.
