Using a combination of freely available AI tools, MS publisher and Excel I created a digital "Collector's Book".
I did this so that it would be easy for me to share the meaning and interest of my grandfather's collection rapidly with family, friends and colleagues. The process and template I created to achieve the above represents a rapidly customizable method to create a near-professional (eBook) digital representation of any physical collection.
In short - I created an efficient means by which ANY collector should be able to rapidly instantiate their own Collector's Book, with text and art unique and appropriate to your personal collection. Having created this and seen the joy it brought my family - it occurred to me that others may be interested in it.
I am seeking discussion and participation from a group of interested individuals who will help improve the template and format, and can then own that knowledge on behalf of this community.
Please contact me if you are interested in having a look at the output of the method and an overview of the process and time-commitment. To be clear - THIS IS FREE.
Notes regarding the process:
- For a collection that at least has a spreadsheet - the process from a 1,500 stamp collection to eBook is between 8-20 hours. Maintenance once created is very low. As I understand it, this is a blink of an eye in stamp time!
- The only paid tools requirement is MS Publisher and MS Excel (part of MS Office) - OR an alternative that can work compatibly with MS Publisher and Excel files
- Materials requirements (Camera, PC, MS Office, internet)
Thank you for joining the conversation. This will be a great place to learn a bit about AI content creation and apply it to share the experience of collecting in meaningful ways.
If a few folks are interested, I'll run a joint virtual tour for a coalition of the willing.
