Students of stamp design, may notice the lovely little "Herald's wand" at the bottom of the Carmine, The Caduceus.

Very Nice! It is difficult sometimes to get Brazil stamps in good condition.

It's also nice to find things that are not often seen. At least I've never seen them in my album. Nice!

Thanks for the detailed pics. My copy of the 1916 carmine 100 Reis has a SON cancel, nice enough, but it blocks out some of the detail. Yours show me what I can't see on mine. I notice on my 1915 (blue) there is the beginning of some acid discoloration from the gum. I'm thinking about removing it.

Do you think acidity from gum? maybe had moisture at one point. I am not a fan of gum, I see no reason to keep gum on a cancelled stamp, unless a prover. Mine are washed but still have that toning, I'll leave well alone, they are in a good environment although my hinges curl at odd times. It looks like stable ink if you do decide to soak.
What intrigues me is the perforations on these fellows, I have read of pins being replaced on perforators with piano wire, mine look like a gaggle of diameters.
Being a Meccano Kid, the Gantry Straddle Boat Crane I found interesting, esp mixed with Caravels, rather odd.
