Not sure if there is thread for this. I am lucky to travel my country from coast to coast: not to the other coast, just Atlantic and Pacific. I go to post offices and have my Canadian modern stamps post marked from various locations. Been doing over twenty years, reminds me of my trips. Mostly I get the covers back in good shape when I get home, but occasionally this happens. I have no idea why. BTW, I blocked out my address, not for our members, but this is a public forum.

I do not recall seeing this happening on anything I have received. It’s eith a postmark or pen or marker cancelled.

In the U.S., this is common for odd-shaped letters, non-machineable items, older non-tagged stamps, etc. Plus, the general failure of USPS to cancel stamps. Iv Supposedly, using older stamps without tagging doesn't trigger the automatic cancels? Inviting the marker monkeys...
