Hi Evan
I forgot to ask.
I am not sure but I think my friend Doug Pavey was a member of the Hollywood Stamp Club. If so, did you know him?

Welcome from another Floridian - Port Saint Lucie.
I’ve heard that the Hollywood stamp club is worth the drive! Wish I lived a bit closer.

Hi Evan!
Welcome to a great forum, I was a member of Hollywood stamp club 1970s through the 1990s when I moved to Georgia. HSC member #1255 I believe, so lots of great memories of members, most of them no longer with us other than in philatelic spirit. I recently reconnected with Tom Walen who was always helpful with all members; Tom and his wife Susan are still active there as well.
By all means, feel free to contribute here at TSF (The Stamp Forum) and ask or answer questions! I participate in several other online stamp forums fairly regularly, but this is by far the one that treats **everyone** with utmost respect. We will never belittle or ridicule anyone, as sometimes happens elsewhere. For some stamp sites, civility seems to be just a suggestion…..or aspiration.
But here all Administrators work diligently but respectfully to enforce it!
There are some great Cape of Good Hope thread discussions, lots of advise to solicit if so inclined, and you’ll never have to worry about being insulted if you dare to make an error or misstep in any contributing post.
Enjoy your experiences here, I’m sure you’ll grow to enjoy your TSF experiences!
—Jim

More fantastic welcomes - thank you. Jerry i do not know Doug Pavey. Philatelia the HSC is worth the drive - we meet each tuesday night and last week had 64 members in attendance. Yes you read that right. Evan Evan (and Jerry!) I used to joke--without exaggeration--that both the average member age AND the average weekly meeting attendance were both around 100. Well regarding average age I might have been a couple years off, higher or lower. Not sure which ;-)... But according to you the HSC attendance (in the sixties) hasn't dropped off too much in 30 years. And yes, I knew Doug Pavey well, a fine young collector who passed away before his rightful time a number of years ago. I drove Doug to several local meetings when possible, and we often carpooled to local stamp shows, as Doug didn't drive. I also purchased a couple nice album collections from Doug at our local Atlanta-area stamp club auctions, so I still get to enjoy his perfectionist style whenever I open those albums--he printed his own pages with great results! --Jim (PS great first name, we christened our 32 year-old son Evan as well!)
